working on a "take this vibecoded slop app and make it a production-ready, e2e tested, maintainable, parallelizable agent repo" skill. this thing ran for ~16 hours yesterday and made 103 commits all told and i ended up with exactly the same app but instead of fragile mvp it now looks like a codebase i can actually build on for th elong run

@Mappletons markdown as the shared substrate just works. humans read it, agents diff it, no translation layer. anything else feels like extra steps

Directionally correct, and a clever hack to expand the constraints of a CLI tool. But still only single player and working within CLI limitations. Excited we're doing the larger vision of this in Ace. Multiplayer, docs as first-class primitives inside an agentic coding workspace

Introducing Roughdraft! A new open source project designed to make collaboration with agents better. The idea is to bring commenting and suggested changes to markdown (e.g. plan docs) in a nice interface. Free, local, etc. 👉 roughdraft.md 👈

@rsms this is exactly why i run claude code + codex + cursor in parallel instead of picking one. augment, don't replace. the moment a tool asks me to leave my editor it's already losing

I like tools like these, which augments your workflow instead of replacing it. For example it’s a very tough sell to ask a programmer to switch text editors. Coding agents feel the same way; a product that asks you to use _their_ agent interface will have to pull me uphill

@Mappletons yes! comments are a workaround for the fact that you can't edit. just let me rewrite the markdown directly. coding agents already work this way with diffs, plans should too

Instead of leaving comments, you should just be able to directly edit the markdown. Remove one more layer of abstraction, have more control over the plan that guides the work

@tobi committing a project-local index to the vault is the move. agents finally get a stable shared map instead of rebuilding context every session

One of the best new features in qmd 2.5 is that you can now qmd init in a fresh directory and get a local .qmd/index.yml that is automatically used. So you can easily make project local qmd index for your obsidian vault and commit the index if you want.

So this reply was bit tongue in cheek but: - you enable coding agent in Linear (nothing to deploy) - You give access to other services trough the workspace or the user grants access to their accounts (Linear manages) It’s basically two models: external agents get their own scoped app identity, and Linear agent uses the invoking user’s access inside Linear. Code, GitHub, and other integrations are then authenticated separately and constrained by their own permissions.

I've got questions for the people having agents write software for their team: - Where do you deploy it? - How are you giving it access to integrations? - How are you managing access controls? Diving deep on this topic atm, if you're a company struggling with this let me know

@Heptabase the mention-link following one is interesting. that's the closest primitive to how humans actually navigate notes

Agent Mode is now available in Heptabase AI! It can now edit and create cards, read images, follow mention links, read sub-whiteboards, and explore your knowledge base more deeply. This means better answers and less manual work.

@charliedeets You will become more confident that this is going to come true if you actually use an affordable phone like the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip

If voice ends up becoming a primary interface for phone interactions, it could be interesting if devices reduced in size without as much need for keyboard input.

I’d truncate paths and filenames in the middle, ie foo/bar/cat → foo/…/cat (what you’re already doing) Give the file name column up to 50% of the width and the rest to path and other columns. Truncate filenames too, ie very_long_name.xls → very_lo…ame.xls (but never truncate extension)

Here's how you can build a functional and interactive component library with Codex and MagicPath running as an extended canvas in less than 5 minutes. Pretty crazy.
