@GeoffGrammer @JamesDYodice Yes, i know her history. With connections had by all, wondering if there was any particular and additional connection to TCU? Or maybe asked a better way, why TCU? I understand TCU’s prowess. Maybe simply that and top dollar offer.

@BoomerHoops @JamesDYodice Bella was recruited at one of the highest national levels of any player in Abq. history. Her club team was best in the country w/ her and No. 1 player over all. There were connections made with every college program in the country over the past 2 years.

@GeoffGrammer @Lobodog1 Yes we’d like to see players stick around and see that development & continuity. But it’s a new reality, players deserve their piece of pie. UNM isn’t alone with hign turnover. In fact, it was a whole new roster this year and we still very much enjoyed the roster and the season.

@Lobodog1 There is no matching what Jake is getting offered. Jake is getting offered more than UNM can offer if every penny was available. It's not the same world what Jake is getting offered vs. what UNM can pay him.

Officially official. UNM wing Antonio Chol former junior college All-American is in the transfer portal. Talent, and size/length, that will get him a ton of really good looks.
Sam Kayser@KayserHoops

NEWS: New Mexico forward Antonio Chol is entering the transfer portal, a source told @LeagueRDY. The 6-foot-9 junior began his career playing two seasons at Rutgers before playing 37 games for New Mexico this season. He averaged 7.7PPG and 2.9RPG in 2025-26.

@GeoffGrammer Jake Hall has signed with Lakers. Eric Olen is contemplating an offer to be the coach. Geoff Grammer gets blasted by Lobo fans for daring to ask any questions about any of this.

I'm starting to think that maybe, just maybe, some of the people posting things on this bird app might not actually have as much information as they let on when they post their hot takes here.

@beauhightowerdn @EPMARTINEZ 2010 was a great team. Was living in Chicago and had to find MW network late night at bars. But 1977-78 was no.4 in the country, sellouts included crazy standing room only, Bryant Gumble did a story about them on NBC, they were in sports illustrated, run and gun offense, etc.

@JohnJelso @GeoffGrammer So John you were not wondering about Olen’s future yourself? As a Lobo fan I would like to know Olen’s thoughts. If he doesn’t answer, then that’s his answer. Weird for anyone to take offense to such a question. Thanks Geoff for asking the question.

@GeoffGrammer Couldn't understand why so many have wanted you gone. It's now painfully obvious. Your constant abuse of coaches/players with inappropriate & repetitive questioning about coaching rumors/player portal is disgusting. If I were a player/coach I'd have told you to f-off weeks ago.

I asked Eric Olen, like I did with players in the locker room about their decisions about their futures at UNM, "I'm curious when you might have a timeline on on what is next for you, and if it is with UNM next season?" Olen: "Yeah, I don't even necessarily understand the question." Me: "Are you planning to be the coach at UNM next season, or (will you) be talking with other teams and interviewing with other programs — is any of that going on from this point forward?" Olen: "I misunderstood. Yeah, I'm the coach of New Mexico and I'm not going to comment on anything outside of that."
Geoff Grammer@GeoffGrammer

Very, very brief postgame/postseason press conference with UNM Lobos. Not sure if there will be more talking with players or Eric Olen after tonight to give readers/fans any idea on the future or if tonights (again) very short press conference was it. I did get locker room interviews with Hall, Buljan, Tenette and Howell talking about their futures and timelines. (Will post as soon as I can, but lots of writing, too) Olen said he wouldn't answer questions about his future.

@BradenTClark @LetJSNCook @GeoffGrammer Yes correct thanks. Some guy named Lloyd at UNC may not do the trick. I’m confident Arizona would have its pick of established in place coaches. Except for the absolute top-tier Blue blood coaches.

@GeoffGrammer Exactly Geoff. Nothing against their coaches personally, but thought it might be a good entre into the Mountain West to have a new hoops coach. Some new excitement around the program.

UTEP AD sends letter to fans saying the Miners in 2026-27 — the academic/sports year the school enters the newlook Mountain West — will have about $3.45 million total in rev share. Not exactly an optimistic number for fans of the league hoping the drop off isn't too steep.
Adrian Broaddus@AdrianBroaddus

UTEP Director of Athletics Jim Senter sent an email to fans today with the subject line “Future of UTEP Athletics.” “Dear Miner Nation:   With our 2025-26 basketball seasons completed, I wanted to take a minute to update you on the current state of UTEP Athletics.   The win-loss records in football, men’s and women’s basketball are nowhere near where we want them to be, nor are they what our fans expect and deserve. We believe in our head coaches, who have all been highly successful in the past. But we understand that we need to provide them with the tools to be successful. I believe we have a resource challenge, not a head coaching issue. Let me explain.   College athletics has undergone widespread, unprecedented change in recent years. Student-athletes can now transfer liberally and become eligible the next year. They are also able to earn compensation by monetizing their Name, Image & Likeness (NIL), or entering into Revenue Sharing (Rev Share) agreements and being paid directly by their school.   Currently, NCAA Division I institutions such as UTEP can provide student-athletes with up to $20.5 million annually. The reality is, few schools at our level come close to matching that number. Still, it’s an “arms race,” and the schools with the most money are most likely to entice the most talented student-athletes to join their program and give them the best chance of enjoying success.   Last year, our fundraising efforts produced $1.1 million which we could allocate to Rev Share for recruiting and retaining football and basketball student-athletes. We anticipate having $3.45 million for Rev Share during the 2026-27 athletic year – a sizeable jump, but this number still needs to grow to keep up with our Mountain West (MW) peers.   We are grateful for our donors who contributed a record $12 million in fiscal year 2025. You may be wondering why more of this total wasn't allocated to Rev Share. Of the $12 million raised, $8 million was dedicated to our Climb Higher initiative which helped UTEP cover the exit fees and forfeiture of revenue associated with departing Conference USA. Essentially, our donors helped us keep the lights on the past two years! Now that we are in a more stable financial position entering the MW, we are able to allocate over $2.3 million from our budget to Rev Share which will supplement donor contributions, giving us the aforementioned $3.45 million budget.   You may have also read that UTEP has one of the top budgets for men’s basketball in CUSA. This is also accurate, but these monies are utilized solely for general operating expenses. The costs of team travel and recruiting are higher here due to our isolated location and factor into our basketball budget.   All told, it is an exciting time for UTEP Athletics as we officially join the MW on July 1. We have a tremendous opportunity as a fan base and community to bring UTEP back to national prominence, but we can't continue on our current path and expect different results. What is needed now is a unified Miner Nation and a collective investment from campus, students, alumni, donors and the El Paso community to ensure competitive success in our new home.   If you’re asking, “How can I help?,” the answer is simple. Get involved! Buy season tickets, join the Miner Athletic Club for as little as $9.15 per month, and contribute to our competitive excellence funds in support of the team(s) of your choice. If you’re a business owner, become a corporate partner and/or buy a group experience for your employees.   As we look to the future of UTEP Athletics, it will take all of us to “Reach the Peak” in the MW. I urge each of you to share this with your friends, family and UTEP fans far and wide, and ask them to join us in our fight. Help us to elevate our competitive success, pursue championships relentlessly, and “Climb Higher” as an athletic department and El Paso community.   Thank you and Go Miners! Jim Senter  Vice President and Director of Athletics”
