@VirtudMental I had to do a double take bc this guy is @RealMattFradd ‘s doppelgänger.

@usuallypregnant There are exceptions to this rule, but generally, yes.

@philthatremains Always remember: Every bullet has a lawyer attached to it.
Call the cops and let them deal with this. If they break in then the scales tip the other way.
English

@usuallypregnant Of course. But at some point you have to trust a person who is going to make decisions. And second opinions do get expensive after awhile. There’s a balance that must be struck between personal autonomy and faith in medicine. Each person can decide where that balance is.

@InternetH0F I always wished they’d have put subtitles for him.

@usuallypregnant We didn’t wait too long, so no. If anything we got some mush about delaying kids and “getting to know each other”. None of our friends followed that advice, and they’re all still married. 25 years and counting.

@DHiddenness @PaulinusOfTrier And many Popes and Bishops were decadent throughout history. Yet their office remains, and our doctrine perseveres. I believe Amoris Lætitia will be one of those near misses once the dust has settled.
English

@DHiddenness @PaulinusOfTrier Of course. We would agree “Indefectibility” is different than “Perfect clarity” when it comes to proclaiming doctrine.
English

@StochasticUltra @DHiddenness @PaulinusOfTrier Who said he was a hero? And his exile to Tehran can’t be used to tar every action Bugnini ever made. That’s intellectual dishonesty.
English

@Catholic_Ham @DHiddenness @PaulinusOfTrier Right. Bugnini was a hero. That's why P6 sent him to Tehran
English

@PaulinusOfTrier Same goes the other way. People don’t start falling away from the faith just because of the New Mass. A change in ritual does not force a change in the faith itself. Ppl still need to be taught the faith.
English

@Catholic_Ham Yeah right, people started rushing to confession thanks to the new Mass.
English

@StochasticUltra @PaulinusOfTrier I guess everyone didn’t have your particular English missal around the world.
English

@Catholic_Ham @PaulinusOfTrier Says right in my missal that it absolves venial sins

@Miss_Oggy_Noir @lv715 @HalfwayPost Pretty thin argument when that canon is extremely vague and Carrie’s with it many stipulations for deployment of the penalty of excommunication .
English

@megbasham The Trump issue aside, it would be interesting to hear your journey to stop taking birth control. My wife and I never used it either.

I have never felt a single bit of animus toward Catholics in my life. In fact, most of the time, I have felt really grateful for y’all because, doctrinally, you have held the line on the most important political issues to me, like abortion and marriage, better than many Protestant denominations.
Within this first six months of getting married, I quit taking birth control because of literature a Catholic friend gave me, even though I was a Protestant. But I am telling you all, you don’t realize how the Pope’s actions and the Vatican actions more broadly are being read by Protestants.
When it’s a matter of abortion, it’s generic statements directed at no one in particular. When it’s foreign policy, it’s extremely pointed and aimed directly at the United States and specifically Trump.

@megbasham There's a long history of anti catholic bigotry in 🇺🇸, it never went away.
English

@Miss_Oggy_Noir @lv715 @HalfwayPost And what about those Catholics that formally cooperate in the grave moral evil of procuring an abortion? Something Canon Law explicitly states is grounds for excommunication (can. 1398)?
English

@Catholic_Ham @lv715 @HalfwayPost He could be tried for formal cooperation in grave moral evil under just war doctrine. Pope Leo has already declared the war unjust.
