It is with great sadness that we share the news that Dr. Casey Brown passed away on Saturday, March 18. He was a friend, colleague, and mentor to so many in the GCB and CAMB communities, as well as the scientific community as a whole, and will be deeply missed.

A terrible loss.

BTW @FedEx @FedExHelp these were the photos that were shown that were NOT at my address. I know this isn't my house because that is not my 'front door' ground, -- I don't have concrete like that there -- but geez, can they take better pictures anyway?

So now I'm on Twitter because i can't get anywhere with anyone to find out why @FedEx can't even manage to deliver flowers to the correct address for Valentine's day despite every other delivery service like @UPS and @USPS having no problem finding my address for 7 years.

@FedEx @FedExHelp you lost TWO perishable Valentine's Day flower shipments from @1800flowers. First mis-delivered 2/8 & you located it 8hr later, flowers browned :(. Replacement mis-delivered AGAIN 2/9 still missing and hours on the phone with you and vendor, everyon'es like🤷‍♀️

@IamHogoe I understand completely. You're not over-reacting. I lost my dog in November. She absolutely ran the house on a timetable and she cared for us every day. I have the most difficult time thinking about her and keeping myself together.

@moorejh Memories...My first personal *ix workstation was a Am486 processor I built in grad school in 1997 and had to compile my own Linux kernel to support the motherboard. Learned Unix & programming in the 80s as I was setting up local services like Usenet, MU* and IRC. #retrocomputing

My first UNIX workstation as an Assist Professor was a Sun UltraSPARC (1999). Had it on my desk next to my Windows box. I learned UNIX on an IBM RS6000 running AIX as a grad student in the mid-1990s. I had also used Sun for some classes. Much preferred SunOS. #retrocomputing

@GntlmnScientist Yup. I hire MS folks in bioinformatics. Sometimes not even in bioinformatics fields to start.

PhDs is trending so I want to remind the world you don’t need a PhD to be a scientist.

Heard from a friend that the entire USA research site for EMD-Serono was axed. All 150 people laid off. No news currently released though that I can find. Hope they're wrong. @EMDSerono
