ACS released the 2024 5-yr microdata sets. Here is updated TFR by language spoken at home in the US, ranked from highest to lowest. Anything with 'languages' in the name is a mess, but the trimmed average should give a rough idea of what the TFR is for smaller languages.

@Divideetimpera5 Converts definitely helped here. The entire sephardic Haredi movement started after 1952. 1/3 of all Haredi in Israel are sephardic.

New Amish study was released. It uses data from over 50,000 households, which covers 89.9% of all Amish in North America. It found the average TFR for all Amish women was 6.1 in the 2002–11 period.

@SultanYavar @charliesmirkley @JebknJbkn True but there is roughly the same number of Mennonites with tfr of ~6. Lithuania’s population was ~500× the Amish population in 1900 :). Nothing is set in stone with demographics.

@ComteWasRight @Liridon1988 The acs gives 6.17 for 5 years ending in 2024 for those without cars, but the acs also overestimates the tfr of the overall usa population so... at the same time acs doesnt counts twins, triplets nor multiple births in 1 year and the more conservative amish may not respond...

@Liridon1988 5.5 for Pennsylvania German speakers based on ACS data. It’s likely a good estimate for the Amish in 2020’s.

After a failed attempt a couple years ago, it looks like Mennonites will settle in Suriname—this time a group from Belize. One prospective Menno settler (with 10 kids) suggested more conservative Mennonites are moving to preserve traditional lifestyles. news.mongabay.com/2026/04/mennon…

@ComteWasRight I estimated at least 2.5%. The Swiss Amish have a significantly higher birth rate than most other Amish, as can be seen in the central eastern portion of the state.
