@altunisahmed @Gibboanxious I find it hard to accept who I see as bigoted and hate filled, completely lacking empathy and saying "I got mine." I truly wish I didn't see you that way. I tried for a long time not to, even took my granny to church a dozen times with an open mind, but all I heard was hate.

@Gibboanxious The replies on this thread illustrate the fundamental difference between the political left and right in this country. Again and again you have people saying, “I hate his politics, but I’ll give it to the man—he’s a great actor.” The political left is not capable of that.

@EggerDC Early on in the Trump era, despite really disliking him, I found myself seeking ways to defend him from the more ferverous criticisms. I wanted ti appear more rational and less progressive I guess. Fetterman reminds me of that stage of grief, which I long ago abandoned.

It is genuinely difficult for me to understand why Fetterman takes 100 percent of the opportunities he sees to deride "TDS" online. It doesn't seem to be connected to any broader political aim. I guess it's just what hits for him and he's a poaster like the rest of us
U.S. Senator John Fetterman@SenFettermanPA

Stop this henpecking. $13M? This is an iconic American place and was in serious disrepair. Get over the TDS and celebrate this is getting done for our 250th. 🇺🇸

I know David and his legendary father, Cyril. As I’ve affirmed, I’m not changing my party—but I fully understand David’s personal choice. The Democratic Party must confront its own rising antisemitism problem.

@101sfinance I'm not saying it's unequivocally the best but show me something with this amount of production value, this would cost $ 500K+ and take 6+ months before AI It's incredible what a small team can do now

New England is actually a great example of why smaller districts would be better. If we had 50k people per district, there would be plenty of Rs in New England. Even more important, representatives would actually know the people from their district and we'd have a Congress more responsive to voters

A decent share of the people I see pointing to New England actually have a very deep and detailed understanding of redistricting and are engaged in what’s known by experts as “lying their assess off” to mislead people in their audience.
Aaron Blake@AaronBlake

A good rule of thumb: If someone in your feed is pointing to New England as an example of egregious gerrymandering, just know that they only have a surface-level understanding of redistricting.

That may be factually true, not exactly that simple but for the sake of argument... That does not change what I said. Any court that rules the native people of this country have no right to national sovereignty is illegitimate. It has only the authority granted to it by us. If it hands down a decision that says we have no authority to defend our borders it delegitimize and strips itself of all authority in that act.

Can’t say I’m much of an RBG scholar but KBJ dissents feel so contrived. And it’s all so unnecessary. Not sure any of her solo dissents lend anything constructive to the discourse. Maybe there’s value to an amici she’s reflecting. No clue. Just seems weird. I feel a little bad for her bc I don’t think she’s as silly as her ego makes her seem.

The RBG cult is too psychologically interesting, I waste three minutes thinking about it whenever the topic comes up. What’s the most popular message on RBG merch? Typically it’s “I dissent.” The stans aren’t venerating her opinion in United States vs. Virginia or Evenwel v. Abbott. She’s the icon of being smart and right while losing. This has transferred over to KBJ fandom; she never wins, but look at her epic roast in this dissent. It’s a cult of never holding power but being smug that the people holding power are wrong and maybe the biopic in 20 years will say so.

@ernunnos @SonnyBunch Musk rode into Washington on a chainsaw with a mandate to find and kill fraud and waste in the federal government and he... didn't really do much, then quit. Maybe it's there, maybe it's not (I tend to just blame bad management), but either way Trump hasn't fixed that either.

I tend to think Trump remains relatively immune from backlash to his rampant graft because his most ardent admirers *don't care* that he's siphoning billions to himself and his sons. But if the economy gets bad enough ... thebulwark.com/p/trump-corrup…

@ernunnos @SonnyBunch I actually respect saying "It's a global world now, adapt" a lot more. Harsh truths instead of comfortable lies. The nationalist hope for 4 bedroom houses on a single factory worker income is never going to happen. Zero chance. Yet passionate MAGAs believe it. It's sad.

@SonnyBunch Democrats have never cared about blatant graft as long as the politicians delivered on abortion & free PrEP. Republicans have learned to play the game. Deliver for us, you can reward yourself. Don't, and we'll find someone who can.

While TX started the cycle, CA was a proportional response. Dems then had a chance to deescalate after Indiana & chose not to. The consequence is that Repubs elsewhere will now put the pedal to the metal, seeing efforts to deescalate won’t be reciprocated by Dems …
