Yes, reform is loud But, as Nigerians, we need to be honest with ourselves. The problems we lived with for years were even louder. We just got used to them. The waste, the inefficiency, and the struggle to make simple things work; it became our normal. Now that things are being fixed under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, it won’t be quiet or easy. Real change never is. The noise you hear today is the sound of difficult but necessary change. Nation-building is not a quiet process. It demands courage, sacrifice, and honesty. And while reform may be uncomfortable for Nigerians, it is the only path to lasting stability and shared prosperity for all Nigerians. As of now, the opposition has not told us the alternatives to fuel subsidy removal. They are yet to tell the available option to FX rates reconciliation. They are yet to present a counter offer to young Nigerians on Nelfund's student loan, amongst many others They took us to Egypt during their days. Imagine where a congregation of them all in one place would further take us.

Said it before. Saying it again: what we are doing in Nigeria is not democracy. It is a power struggle amongst civilian politicians. The fundamental conditions for real democracy- a truly independent electoral umpire, political competition based on ideologies and ideas, a broad-based commitment to nationhood, and an educated citizen population that can make informed electoral decisions rather than on the basis of sectarian sentiments - is absent. Unfortunately, the only thing he lacks is how to make and implement policies that will improve the lives of the people he claimed to be governing. Whatever political strategy one has is a means to an end, and that end is to deliver the dividends of democracy. Sadly, he has failed woefully in this regard.

The very unique thing about President Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu @officialABAT is that he fought from the deep end of opposition to become President of Nigeria and today, he has totally flipped the script on the PDP which could not outfox him as the only surviving opposition Governor in the South-West in 2007. Therefore, every step the opposition takes today and every strategy they adopt is from the playbook of President Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu. He knows and understands every single step against him before they even conceive it. You cannot beat the master at his own game; you cannot outfox the man who taught almost all of us how to play opposition politics; he is 100 steps ahead of all of them.

More allocation to state will never translate to development. We all know that these state governors are not interested in developing their respective states. So taking from the struggling poor masses and giving to them will never make any difference. You’re only increasing the amount of money that will be available for them to siphon and misappropriate.

Capital Projects are ongoing everywhere but we still fail to recognize all this. Truly we are not where we shld be but we are making good and reasonable progress given what we have.

First and foremost, you can’t announce the removal of fuel subsidy on your first day in office. It’s economic and administrative suicide. What I would have done differently? I would have settled down first. Take a critical look at the situation surrounding the subsidy….check the books and then make provision for partial subsidy payments. The reason for this is to reduce the economic shock this will cause the whole economy. Invest heavily in the power sector to increase power supply in order to reduce demand on fuel for households consumption and industrial use. Invest in railways and commercial buses across the country, and also encourage all state governments to do same. Once intra and inter state transport networks are efficient and being subsidised by the government through PPP, the cost of transportation will reduce thereby also reducing costs of goods. Once all these infrastructure are in place, I’ll then remove the remaining subsidy. By then the economy would have stabilised and the impact wouldn’t be felt like we’re experiencing today.

Which is why I hav asked you to suggest the contingency plans you would have implemented given the time constraints as well I dont want us to just use buzz words - let us be specific. What exactly should have been done as contigency plan? I really want to hear from u.

Not the point I’m trying to make though, but it’s still okay. My point is that in as much as removing subsidy is a dire necessity, having a contingency plan is sacrosanct, which the government fails to do. It’s one of the reasons the economy is currently on its knees. And poverty level has skyrocketed.

We know that the anomaly is from the constitution that we were gifted with by the military regime, which we ought to have trashed a long time ago. But this very INEC chairman should resign first, while we await his replacement. We know Tinubu will never appoints someone that will work against his personal interests. It’s a dismal situation. This has always been my position. But the next one must at least pretend to be a neutral umpire.

Nigerians don't really care who takes over as long as APC is out of power, and this right here is the problem. APC is nothing without its members, and these members are re-branding in the oppositions. Nigerians are trying to replace a failed system with another set of incompetent people.
