So let us focus on metformin and longevity trials. If all things goes well, I mean, we reach a good market cap to afford the cost of the researchs. I am going reassembled my medical team, where I had previously conducted longevity research, and submit an ethics committee application for animal experiments . Over the past few years, there have been a number of active studies on metformin and longevity. I would like to summarise 2 major trials and expectations! The exploration of metformin as a potential anti-aging agent has gained significant traction in recent years, particularly through the lens of two major clinical trials: the Metformin In Longevity Study (MILES) and Targeting Aging with Metformin (TAME). These studies aim to elucidate the mechanisms by which #metformin, traditionally used as a first-line treatment for type 2 diabetes, can extend healthspan and lifespan in non-diabetic populations. The basis for this investigation is a robust body of evidence suggesting that metformin exerts several beneficial effects beyond glycaemic control, including anti-inflammatory, anti-cancer and longevity-promoting properties. The MILES study is particularly noteworthy as it is investigating the effects of metformin on biomarkers of ageing in a healthy population. Preliminary results from previous studies suggest that metformin users, particularly those with diabetes, have a median increase in life expectancy of approximately 15% compared to non-diabetic controls 1. This observation is consistent with the general hypothesis that metformin may mimic the effects of caloric restriction, a well-documented intervention for extending lifespan 2. In contrast, the TAME trial is designed to assess the effects of metformin on age-related diseases, including cardiovascular disease, cancer and cognitive decline, thereby providing a comprehensive understanding of its potential as a geroprotective agent 3. The underlying mechanisms by which metformin may promote longevity are diverse. One of the most prominent pathways involves the activation of AMP-activated protein kinase (AMPK), a critical regulator of cellular energy homeostasis. Metformin's ability to activate AMPK has been linked to improved mitochondrial function, reduced oxidative stress and increased autophagy, all of which are essential processes for maintaining cellular health and longevity 4,5. Metformin has been shown to attenuate the senescence-associated secretory phenotype (SASP), which is implicated in the ageing process and several age-related diseases 6. By reducing #SASP factors, metformin may help alleviate chronic inflammation, a hallmark of ageing and a contributor to many age-related pathologies 7. In addition to its metabolic effects, metformin has shown potential in modulating epigenetic factors associated with ageing. Research suggests that metformin may affect DNA methylation patterns, which may contribute to its longevity-promoting effects 8. This epigenetic modulation is particularly relevant in the context of age-related diseases, where changes in gene expression can lead to pathological changes. Ongoing clinical trials, MILES and TAME, are expected to provide further insight into how metformin's effects on epigenetics and cellular senescence may translate into tangible health benefits for the ageing population 9. The safety profile of metformin is another critical aspect supporting its investigation as an anti-aging intervention. With decades of clinical use, metformin is generally well tolerated and associated with a low incidence of adverse effects 10. This makes it an attractive candidate for long-term studies to assess its impact on ageing and longevity. In addition, the cost-effectiveness of metformin compared with other emerging anti-aging therapies adds to its appeal, particularly in the context of public health 11. In summary, the #MILES and #TAME trials represent an important step in the investigation of metformin as a potential anti-aging therapy. The existing literature provides a compelling rationale for these trials, highlighting the multiple mechanisms of action of metformin, its safety profile and its potential to improve health and longevity. As the results of these trials become available, they will undoubtedly contribute to a deeper understanding of metformin's role in ageing and its potential to reshape approaches to age-related health management. $Met References: 1.
