I've been using @mattpocockuk skills for the past couple of weeks, and my productivity has probably 3x'd. My usual work session starts with the /grill-me skill. Begin with a broad, messy task, and the agent keeps asking questions until the gaps are clear. The useful part is that while you're answering, you're also forced to understand the task better and dig into the details you skipped. One time it grilled me for 80+ questions and halfway through I was basically asking are we there yet every few minutes. Then I run /to-issues skill and kick the issues off in goal mode. One detail I think is very important is to explicitly ask it to spawn subagents for each task, test the work when it's finished, and redo it if it's not actually done. Runs usually go for multiple hours, so once one is kicked off, I can start working on another session, or just go back to doomscrolling.

mcp is so tied to the idea of 1 process = 1 session there's some things in the spec that force you to spawn a new MCP server for every active session you have ridiculous overhead - this is why i kept saying it's too early to standardize

@thdxr Standard are better than no standards. I implemented OpenAI plugins 3 years ago, Claude implemented MCP for me and the next AI will implement the next standard for me. Standards as skills.

@camsoft2000 @twannl I tried it, it is disaster. I bet their token usage per engineer per day is just like 10k.

Apple taking serious inspiration from XcodeBuildMCP. Shame they don’t acknowledge. That said I’ve not found much use for agentic interactive debugging, agents are so good at spotting issues in code without runtime introspection.

I don’t live in San Francisco. I don’t work at a big AI company. But I do spend 8–12 hours a day using Codex and Claude to build production systems, agentic workflows, and health technology. Sometimes I wish the people building these tools would respond to the things I share. That would be pretty cool. Either way, I’ll keep building and documenting the journey.
