Only after 50 years since 1969, when India's space program was setup, Indian govt reformed it in 2020 and setup a dedicated space promotion center. And also, only after 50+ years, GoI created a fund of Rs. 1000 crores for funding and incentivizing private space startups. But immediately we itch to criticize it and call it paltry sum. Just like almost every development coming in India after 70 years of apathy getting criticism and complaints. First of all, for such a fund, you can't start giving away tax payers money just like that. It needs to be setup, funded, investment committee instituted, registered with regulators, then most importantly eligible startups evaluated, and due diligence done to fund them. All these things take time in our country even if the PM directly wishes. Or there will be a scam and you will all immediately write a report how @narendramodi gave crores to an non-existent space startup as if he personally gave the money. So I would be very optimistic the Govt is taking the initiative, coming out with such schemes, putting in the money, taking the effort, and at the least trying to grow India's space program. I won't mock it calling it as "paltry." Similarly, instead of mocking ISRO comparing with SpaceX or instead of saying "3 launches failed", I will say ISRO has done more launches in the last ten years and had more success than all the launches it did for 40 years prior. The Gen-Z have to understand that before the last decade, India was seriously lagging in so many areas for decades. What we are seeing now is an effort to try develop India in all the laggard areas as quickly as possible. So there are surely going to be many issues. Because only when you lay 10,000 kms of expressway you will see 100 kms in total of poor construction here and there making news as if entire expressways are a scam. If you don't create the expressways, electrification, new trains, toilets, homes, startup programs, space launches, direct transfers, piped water and gas, then of course, no issues will be seen and no govt can be blamed.
