@Not_the_Bee @ianmSC If you're focused on the hypocrisy you're leaning in to the argument that capitalism = bad. They could be a greedy socialist company that evenly distributes amongst themselves and the result for everyone else is the same or worse.

It's not a criticism of capitalism, it's a criticism of them. It's an acknowledgment of the fact that they embrace the very principles they hypocritically reject, and they do so in a very cut throat and aggressively greedy manner. Yet they prop up socialist ideas as if they're completely blind to the hypocrisy.

It's extremely funny that Disney spent literally billions of dollars to build Star Wars themed lands in their parks, specifically excluded the original characters because of Kathleen Kennedy's awful advice to Bob Iger, everybody hated it because nobody cares about Rey or Kylo Ren, and now after six years they're completely abandoning their original plan and bringing Han Solo and Princess Leia into Galaxy's Edge

For those saying it’s not a blunder, you need to wake up a little bit. Disney is a greedy capitalist corporation whether they like it or not. They wanted to make money off this and loads of it. Their inability to recognize that their own worldview is not, in fact, popular or profitable, doesn’t mean they did it on purpose. They couldn’t help it. The movies sucked for sure because they allowed ideology to seep in. But again they didn’t do it to sabotage the franchise itself, they thought it would sell billions of dollars in Rey merch. But it didn’t. Nobody liked these characters precisely because they rejected the very human characteristics that Disney’s culture demands they reject, and it made them cold and unlikable. That doesn’t mean Disney destroyed it on purpose. It means their hubris was so large they couldn’t help themselves.

Pope Leo grew up in Chicago. I grew up in Lebanon. I wasn't forced to leave Lebanon because there was peaceful coexistence.
