Usually I try to just ignore this type of stuff and get on with my day, but I recently switched from spotify to apple music for reasons™, and the desktop user interface is so comically poor that I have to make a thread highlighting what I came across in one session, strap in:

@pelvis_man It also handled DRM to win the music industry over, who were still obsessed with trying to hock CDs in Our Price whilst kids were downloading the stuff for free off Napster anyway ... ofc know kids were now building massive iTunes libraries by ripping all their mates CDs 😂

@pelvis_man 2001 iTunes did two things well (for the time): Support iPod & rip CDs direct to library with one button - without pages of cryptic settings and ways to break it.

@pelvis_man @nicbarkeragain Even older heads remember the initial version of iTunes, primarily a companion app to the iPod (I’m that old 👴),it was elegant and simple, miles better than anything else. Unfortunately it rapidly turned to bloat once more devices and commercial opportunities came along. And U2.
