For those of us old enough to vividly remember the Iraq war buildup, the contrast is striking. Whatever you thought of Iraq, it had a huge ideological underpinning. With Iran, there are scattered justifications but the overall vibe is just "Support this because we said so."

The war on Iran is a school shooting raised to the level of official US foreign policy. No pretense of a rational goal. Just murdering children for lulz and then committing suicide in hopes of going to Hell. Pete Hegseth is the same person as Dylan Klebold, just on a bigger stage

Here we go. Once Netanyahu has ordered in ground troops, then it's a guarantee. American politicians are not allowed to disagree. Watch. You'll see Trump will follow his orders like a dog. Then they'll pretend landing troops on Iranian islands doesn't count. Propaganda incoming.
Furkan Gözükara@FurkanGozukara

BOMBSHELL! Netanyahu just casually admitted on live TV that there will be a GROUND INVASION of Iran. The air strikes were just the beginning of a massive, devastating regional war.

Israel has been pummeled all night. Based on my counts of alerts and reports of landings from open sources the number increased tonight, though there are no reports of casualties. My Whatsapp groups are filled with people having breakdowns after not sleeping for two weeks. In Jerusalem 4 alerts were heard in a 90 minute span. Iran has been able to increase the number of launches daily. Everyone seems angry at the IDF and Netanyahu for lying about the destruction of Iranian capabilities.

So are liberals really just going to try to stigmatize the whole idea of Israeli influence on American policy and defeat this war by resting the argument wholly on the Orangeness of this President? Every time they’ve tried to rest any crucial fight on that concept they’ve lost it, and as a consequence are at the low ebb of power of basically the entire history of the liberal incarnation of the Democratic Party.

You cannot b serious. The presence of nuclear material there could “force” SpecOps troops to take down a *mountain* complex? Why in God’s name would we *ever* send our troops into a near impossible mission — where we could lose them all and might still fail — that is NOT needed for our national security? If the President authorizes this, he is not qualified to b the Commander in Chief and should be removed from office. Benjamin Netanyahu said today a “ground component” would b needed to win the war. If Trump gives him our troops, then he will have handed control of the U.S. Armed Forces to fight and die for the leader of a foreign country, and thus should b impeached.
Laura Ingraham@IngrahamAngle

“There may be NO good airstrike option.” Andrea Stricker says the Pickaxe Mountain nuclear facility may be too deep to destroy from the air. “That could force a special forces operation — going inside the complex to eliminate it once the regime is further degraded.”

NEW: Trump seeking to lessen the attention on deportation push and directed advisers to adopt new approach, becoming convinced that some policies have gone too far and that voters dislike the term “mass deportations.” -Wall Street Journal

Most people are misreading this war. It isn’t escalating gradually—it’s about to cross a threshold From disruption → damage That’s when escalation becomes economically irreversible. What comes next: escalationtrap.substack.com/p/from-disrupt…

Wisconsin has gone eight straight completed seasons without a Sweet 16, losing to a double-digit seed four times in six NCAAT appearances. (Oregon, Iowa St, JMU, High Point) The Badgers had six Sweet 16s in the previous eight years, including two Final Fours.

Amanpour is a completely unreliable intermediary. She will cite sourcing like “Israeli and American analysts” and just completely not indicate that they’re the war biggest skeptics from the beginning, basically the Doomer bros you see on here. I’M a Doomer bro on this war! And this still isn’t even valuable to me to get from major media. It literally makes her worthless.
Furkan Gözükara@FurkanGozukara

Absolute bombshell. Christiane Amanpour confirms that US and Israeli analysts admit Iran is firmly in the driving seat of this war. She also reveals the assassinated Iranian negotiator was actually their favored candidate for a transition.

My prior is that this is spot-on accurate about the currently reigning generation of American screenwriters across, not just a subgroup a circle of which wrote this film. But now my inclination is to countersignal that take because of who’s giving it here.

Liel Leibovitz in the Free Press: "As a work of art, One Battle After Another is irredeemable. It feels like the sort of thing written by a committee of socialist college sophomores cracking each other up ... "Paul Thomas Anderson seems interested more in purring for his fellow progressives than in making interesting movies ..."

So fucking what? The leader of the Jewish state fighting a civilizational war against the Islamic Republic should really just keep the name of Jesus Christ out of his mouth in public statements about the war. He’s not religious but his people who are religious believe that Jesus Christ was a heretic who defamed their true beliefs. If he wanted to paraphrase Durant, that’s easily done: “Will Durant said that if the good are weak and the bad are strong, evil will win.” He visibly relished using the name of Christians’ god, which he believes is a silly superstition, to justify death and destruction wrought for the protection of Jews who reject Christ’s divinity — during Christians’ holy month — when he could have just as well not. Maybe work on enforcing laws against spitting on Christians in Israel before using their Lord’s name in vain with a mischievous grin on your face.
Arash Azizi آرش عزیزی@arash_tehran

This quote is from the American historian Will Durant. Fun fact (as shown in my upcoming book): Netanyahu and Khamenei both grew up reading Will Durant (who was and is widely popular in Iran, his STORY OF CIVILIZATION treated as a must-read classic in Persian translation)

Tehran says it hit a US F-35, forcing it to make an emergency landing. Tehran may be lying. Then again, it may be telling the truth. If it is telling the truth, I asked @ckasapoglu1 to explain how, in its weakened state, it might have pulled this off.
