@yung_turrtle @IaqDiesel @benwright I don't doubt it likely went in, just that it isn't terribly definitive. Chances are it was a goal, but surely difficult for AR to see live and not clear enough for VAR

@yung_turrtle @IaqDiesel @benwright I use multiple angles so I can get an intersection in 3D to determine the position. I wanted to use the behind-the-goal angle but unfortunately the distortion on that image is so severe it limits its usefulness in these scenarios.

That @NashvilleSC goal line situation? I have it as 3/8" inside the goal. Given the difficulties of the model and esp. goal-line situations, I can't be sure that it was or was not a goal.

Hey all, I know I've been absent, and I know that @andrew_wiebe keeps sub tweeting me from #InstantReplay, but I'm back. I am now also on Bluesky (@offsidemodeling.bsky.social) So what do you want me to look at? And apologies for disappearing like that.

The first @PhilaUnion goal against @ColumbusCrew back on May 10, from the free kick? I have it as 8 inches offside. Honestly, a _lot_ closer than I expected. Still feel like VAR could have intervened but this info makes it look less obvious than I originally thought.

The @ATLUTD goal against @AustinFC back from almost a month ago? Sorry for the delay, but it looks like it was onside. Only by 3" by the model, but no reason to think it wasn't onside from this

The offside in El Traffico? That took @LAGalaxy's Gabriel Pec's goal off the board? I have it as 9-10 inches offside. That's with a relatively conservative guess on position of the 2LD, so could be more.

@Grant_Aleman @andrew_wiebe Yeah, I'm on this one. Unfortunately it is going to take a bit of effort, goal line situations are the most difficult.

OK, so that St. Louis goal against Columbus called back? I have it as 6 inches onside. I will say that it's harder than it looks b/c 2LD here has his foot off the ground so it isn't as easy as just following the lines in the grass.

@MLSRefStats Just tell everyone it was wrong due to camera distortion and update the values, always works for me.

I discovered some data entry errors, which means I've been short 3 penalties on the season. Naturally, the referees affected are on the conference finals so if you're really paying attention you may notice their regular season numbers have changed. #MLSRefStats

@DanielCluley @JohnRawlinsOCSC If I've learned anything in my soccer fandom it is this: Never listen to commentators for accurate interpretation of the laws, and never rely on the freeze frame they use when showing offside calls.

@JohnRawlinsOCSC @OffsideModeling What really got me on this one is the announcers kept saying his arm looked offside. The law clearly states that "hands and arms" are not considered to determine offside position. That being said, it was really close so I didn't think they would overturn it.

Was Agyemang onside in the @MLS playoff game between @OrlandoCitySC and @CharlotteFC? I have him offside by about 3 feet.

@Terry__Terrific @MLS @OrlandoCitySC @CharlotteFC It is very difficult to evaluate because they don't show a second line parallel to the goal line (only show the midline). Still, the center circle lines up so nicely that I would be surprised if the error would end up with him onside.

I sat right down the line and it was so close none of the ppl around me could say. NO WAY it was three ft. tbh I thought he was on but by a toe. either way glad they waved it off.
