@AuthorKcfoster My debut was 113k and it was published. It's really not always the case.

So, here's my latest dilemma. My first book comes in at 130,000 words, but whenever I seek advice from my beta readers who have read it, they beg me not to make cuts. Experienced writers I know say that it needs to be a shorter book to be accepted by the industry. Thoughts?

I have a confession to make. Several years ago some friends set me up with a woman for a dinner date. Having had a long week, I wasn’t on my best form. Despite her mentioning the patriarchy on more than one occasion, I did not realise at that time that she was infected with feminism. Once it became apparent that she was a sufferer, as we were walking towards the tube, I pointed at something in the distance and said “what’s that?” As she searched the horizon for what I was referring to I turned and walked away. I’d like to apologise to myself for wasting an hour and a half which I will never get back on this poor creature and I remain dedicated to working on myself to become a better person. Together we must stand up to feminism in all its forms.
