@LoganDobson I pay @EliLillyandCo $450/mo out of pocket (insurance doesn’t cover). I’ve lost 10% of my body weight in 9 months and still losing. My spending habits show that I save more than half the monthly cost of the drug on reduced spending on groceries, dining and sacks.

GLPs are a good example of how we could reduce prices by cutting out middlemen -- many insurers don't cover them, and so these drugs increasingly go direct-to-consumer from the pharma companies. As a consequence, prices have gone down; GLPs that previously cost thousands per month are already down to hundreds and will likely continue to fall. Really makes clear where the absurd costs come from in our healthcare system, and, hint, it's not the pharmaceutical industry.

There have been some big recent wins to crack down on middlemen and bring affordability and transparency to patients. Congress passed a bipartisan law on misaligned incentives. The FTC reached a landmark PBM settlement requiring transparency and lower net prices. DOL called for commercial market transparency. More work remains.

@sunday_southern Yeah, I can’t complain about any of mine in that respect either. I was in Donostia and Bilbao, the principal cities in the Basque Country, the first an old money beach city and the second the model city for post-industrial artistic and architectural revival.

My area in downtown Buenos Aires was a reward. I lived in a nice apartment on the 10th floor of a building 3 blocks from Congress, I rode the subway 12 times a day, & walked in beautiful sun and shade. When I did missionary work (95% of the time), it was soul crushing torture.

if you say "norteamericano" to any Spanish speaker from latinoamérica you will be universally understood to mean estadounidense. If you want to refer to the North American continent you would say "América del Norte."
