@RedTory2016 question, you know people are born with cleft palettes, with missing organs, double organs, as Siamese twins, with down syndrome (extra chromosomes) with color blindness, and literally a billion other genetic anomalies
but you think no one is ever born with the wrong genitals??
English

@jaradkoby @thefempire50 @helenstaniland @maybe_ellen @TamsinLisa I don't discriminate because of sexual orientation. But, I will rephrase, as it's important to you.
She just said women don't have to accommodate female impersonators. Men can accommodate female impersonators. By and large, they do.
English

@ThePureDrop @thefempire50 @helenstaniland @maybe_ellen @TamsinLisa Crossdressing and trans is different
English

'The move has sparked fears that trans girl guides could be outed to their peers because of the September deadline, according to one parent'.
They should be. Girls shouldn't be lied to about the sex of someone they are close to and confide in. What are these parents thinking?

Trans girl guide, 10, ‘can’t understand why she is being kicked out of beloved group’ trib.al/APnjHe1
English

@jaradkoby @thefempire50 @helenstaniland @maybe_ellen @TamsinLisa She just said women don't have to accommodate crossdressing men. Men can accommodate crossdresaing men. By and large, they do.
English

@thefempire50 @ThePureDrop @helenstaniland @maybe_ellen @TamsinLisa Bro what are we doing
Now we're essentially saying "we dont have to care about what other people go through" no?
English

@thefempire50 @ThePureDrop @helenstaniland @maybe_ellen @TamsinLisa Let's break this down:
Transwoman wants to use bathroom
Women want their safe spaces
Transwoman (who portrays themselves as a woman) goes into mens room
No problems?
If transman goes to womans bathroom (as prescribed) they get assaulted by men on average
English

@jaradkoby @thefempire50 @helenstaniland @maybe_ellen @TamsinLisa Still generalising.
Which people are alienated when girls are given privacy as their article 3 and 8 rights? Be specific.
English

@ThePureDrop @thefempire50 @helenstaniland @maybe_ellen @TamsinLisa transpeople are alienated in the name of cis people who are being assaulted by cis people
English

@jaradkoby @thefempire50 @helenstaniland @maybe_ellen @TamsinLisa Scouts accept boys and girls. So, yeah.
English

@ThePureDrop @thefempire50 @helenstaniland @maybe_ellen @TamsinLisa All are welcome except not really
English

@jaradkoby @thefempire50 @helenstaniland @maybe_ellen @TamsinLisa Men and boys, being people, are similarly entitled to privacy from women and girls, also being people.
English

@ThePureDrop @thefempire50 @helenstaniland @maybe_ellen @TamsinLisa Transmen also exist but we don't have this conversation because there's no perceived danger to men
English

@jaradkoby @thefempire50 @helenstaniland @maybe_ellen @TamsinLisa Why are you still generalising when you've said how harmful it is?
Which people are alienated when girls are afforded privacy? Be specific.
English

@ThePureDrop @thefempire50 @helenstaniland @maybe_ellen @TamsinLisa Yes we do because you're alienating other people in order to provide that "privacy"
English

@jaradkoby @thefempire50 @helenstaniland @maybe_ellen @TamsinLisa A boy who doesn't want to be a girl cannot join girl guides in the exact same way that a boy who really wants to be a girl can't join girl guides.
And the 10 yo girl who desperately wants to be a boy can join, but doesn't have to if she doesn't want to.
All are welcome in Scouts.
English

@jaradkoby @thefempire50 @helenstaniland @maybe_ellen @TamsinLisa And this is the problem when you generalise to "trans people" when it's specifically about boys and men, in this instance. When you generalise in this way it is harmful.
English

@jaradkoby @thefempire50 @helenstaniland @maybe_ellen @TamsinLisa Thread is about girlguiding excluding boys.
It's ok to be specific that this intervention is for the wellbeing of girls, not "people".
Because people is a generalisation and we know how harmful you find them, so best to be precise in your arguments.
English

@ThePureDrop @thefempire50 @helenstaniland @maybe_ellen @TamsinLisa Arguing privacy feels weird when the prompt is "talking about puberty"
English

@jaradkoby @thefempire50 @helenstaniland @maybe_ellen @TamsinLisa I feel like "people" is too general when we're talking specifically about girls in Girl Guides. It's ok to speak about girls, and to centre them in conversations about girls. In fact, it's crucial to do so.
English

@ThePureDrop @thefempire50 @helenstaniland @maybe_ellen @TamsinLisa I feel like the harmful part is not just saying: "people want privacy"
English

@jaradkoby @thefempire50 @helenstaniland @maybe_ellen @TamsinLisa Generally, girls want privacy from boys. And they deserve it in all cases.
Your belief is that this is harmful? To whom?
English

@ThePureDrop @thefempire50 @helenstaniland @maybe_ellen @TamsinLisa A generalization of generalizations as a whole
Which... is still harmful lol
English

@ThePureDrop @thefempire50 @helenstaniland @maybe_ellen @TamsinLisa Because generalizations are generally harmful
English

@jaradkoby @thefempire50 @helenstaniland @maybe_ellen @TamsinLisa Yes, it's called safeguarding. Because it's safeguarding from harm.
Harm doesnt mean physical danger, it can also be emotional/psychological distress...like girls having to undress in front of boys, even if the boys aren't doing anything.
How are you not understanding this?
English

@ThePureDrop @thefempire50 @helenstaniland @maybe_ellen @TamsinLisa You're literally calling it "safeguard" lol
Guard implies something to guard from
We are essentially saying "men and women can never understand each other therefore they need to be separated to the utmost degree"
English

@jaradkoby @thefempire50 @helenstaniland @maybe_ellen @TamsinLisa That's not the implication. The implication was that girls deserve privacy and dignity from boys, for the girls' wellbeing. *you* made an inference about danger.
English

@ThePureDrop @thefempire50 @helenstaniland @maybe_ellen @TamsinLisa Because the implication is transpeople are dangerous and require protecting from
That's my main gripe this entire time. The humanity was removed from conversation
English

@drquoz @helenstaniland Your fear is misplaced. Try engaging with Helen's argument about safeguarding girls.
English

@helenstaniland I fear that Helen "They Should Be Outed" Staniland is the one pretending to understand these concepts
English

It's an odd way to argue, isn't it? Having to pretend not to understand the concepts of privacy, dignity, humiliation, shame and embarrassment that a total breach of trust like this could cause a young girl.
Jarad Kobuszewski@jaradkoby
@maybe_ellen @helenstaniland @TamsinLisa What are some issues that could arise if a girl talks about puberty with a transgirl not knowing they were born male?
