YOUR CHILD’S PHONE IS WHISPERING THEIR SECRETS TO THE WORLD! Many apps are silently stalking children's locations, turning "playtime" into a data goldmine. With digital safety risks rising, we must act, especially since 44.7% of Ugandan children already encounter online dangers. Don't let digital shadows follow them. Review permissions and disable location access NOW; a simple "off" switch is a vital shield against unseen threats. Their privacy isn't just data, it’s their safety. Lock the digital door before the world walks in! #ConnectedUg2030 #DigitalUganda #OnlineSafety #ProtectOurChildren

I see your point, Luutu Abraham. It’s a valid question. But this goes beyond just naming a Guest of Honour; it aims to highlight the event’s importance. Featuring someone like Hon. Dr Chris Baryomunsi raises the profile of the occasion, indicating its national significance and capturing attention. Think of it like a movie trailer that piques curiosity. In public communication, especially for the POSTCOM launch, different audiences resonate with various aspects. This approach isn’t a diversion; it’s intended to engage people and spark conversations. Your insights are much appreciated.

YOUR CHILD’S NEW BEST FRIEND MIGHT BE A GHOST IN THE MACHINE! While AI can be a brilliant tutor, synthetic friendships are no substitute for the warmth of a parent’s touch. The digital world is a minefield; 44.7% of children in Uganda have already faced inappropriate content online. Algorithms lack the soul to teach empathy; they can support learning and safety, but they cannot provide the trust of human care. By prioritising real-world connections, we ensure technology remains a tool for growth rather than a replacement for family. Technology is the tool, but you are the anchor. Protect the heart, guide the mind! #ConnectedUg2030 #DigitalUganda #SafeAI #ParentingInTheDigitalAge

The digital world is a vast frontier where 97% of children now roam, but without a guide, they are vulnerable to predators and harmful content. In Uganda, nearly 45% of children on social media are exposed to inappropriate sexual images. Parental controls are your child’s superhero shield, turning the internet from a minefield into a playground. By setting screen time and filtering content, you balance study and play while stopping "bad stuff" before it reaches their eyes. Be the first line of defense: Activate filters to block harmful content and unsafe sites. Enforce a rule: "Ask a parent before every new download." Report threats immediately to UgCERT: cert@ucc.co.ug | Toll-Free: 0800 222 777. Don't wait for a digital crisis to protect their peace. Secure their future today! #ChildOnlineProtection #SafeInternet #ConnectedUg2030

YOUR OLD PHONE ISN'T JUST CLUTTER. It’s a ticking time bomb for our environment. Every year, Uganda generates a staggering 32,000 tonnes of e-waste, yet less than 1% is safely documented for recycling. When you toss a battery into a random bin, you release toxins like lead and mercury that can poison our soil with concentrations hitting 14,000 mg/kg, eventually leaking into the water your family drinks. A cleaner #DigitalUganda starts with your next move. Don’t let your old chargers pollute our future. Take your old ICT devices to @UCC_Official collection points in Kampala, Mbarara, Gulu, Masindi, or Mbale. Look for our specialised bins and turn toxic waste into a "green" digital economy. Your small action protects our soil, our water, and our health. Let’s build a sustainable #ConnectedUg2030 together! #EwasteManagement

What happens to your old phones, chargers & batteries when you toss them in a random bin? That’s E-Waste; packed with harmful toxins that pollute our soil, water & health. At UCC, we’re promoting responsible E-Waste management for a cleaner, greener digital future. To dispose off safely, take your old ICT devices to UCC offices in Kampala, Mbarara, Gulu, Masindi, and Mbale, or one of our collection bins at locations where you see a bin like the one in the images below. #ConnectedUg2030 #DigitalUganda #EwasteManagement @UCC_ED @UgCERT @ConsumerUCC @Bbossa

This is a revolution where local content has tripled in volume, proving our stories are worth every frame. Cinema is a powerful engine for #ConnectedUg2030. Historically, cinema ad revenue has been on the rise. In a nation where 90% of private-sector production comes from innovative small enterprises, these nominees are the architects of our digital future. The airwaves are the invisible fuel of Uganda's digital future, but they are a finite, precious resource. To ensure seamless connectivity, a team from @UCC_Official is currently in South Africa benchmarking with ICASA, a leader in advanced spectrum management. Why this matters: Effective regulation in spectrum optimisation is crucial as it can unlock "Digital Dividends," allowing for the expansion of high-speed mobile broadband. Compliance with international standards helps prevent cross-border interference and reduces infrastructure costs. Additionally, a strong satellite strategy for managing both Geostationary (GSO) and Non-Geostationary (NGSO) satellite systems is essential for extending network access to remote communities, thereby bridging the digital divide and ensuring equitable communication access. By adopting these global best practices, @UCC_Official is building a world-class framework to boost our digital economy and connect every Ugandan. We are not just observing excellence; we are bringing it home! #Internationalbenchmarking #ConnectedUg2030 #DigitalUganda

A single notification can change a child’s life. With 90% of adolescents active on WhatsApp, often navigating 27 different groups simultaneously, the digital world is their primary playground. But shadows lurk: 60.4% of young users report receiving harmful or intimidating messages, and up to 39% of teenagers have faced unsolicited sexual content within these chats. Restricting access alone isn't sufficient; "active mediation," which involves ongoing, respectful, and secure communication, is the strongest guard against online grooming and bullying. Don’t let your child face the "group chat" by themselves. Keep yourself informed, stay engaged, and use every message as an opportunity to teach digital resilience. Protect their peace today! #COP @UCC_Official

This isn't limited to households or offices. Behind university labs, government stores, and ICT departments, a silent accumulation is happening. Old servers. Dead laptops. Forgotten cables. So what’s the plan? Here’s the update: large-scale generators such as universities and government organisations are now core to the solution. Organised collection, customised disposal strategies, and secure procedures are in place, ensuring each device is monitored, sanitised, dismantled, reused, or securely destroyed. Because this isn’t just waste, it’s data, it’s risk, it’s opportunity. The real question is no longer “Do they have e-waste?” It’s “Are we ready to move it, safely, securely, and responsibly?” The system is here. The call is simple: Let’s bring it out of storage… and into action.

At Cornerstone Plaza, broken technology is given a second chance, but this shouldn’t come at a cost to health. Uganda produces 32,000 tonnes of e-waste each year, yet less than 1% is recorded as being recycled safely. Although repair shops make devices more affordable, handling toxic parts without proper protection remains a hidden danger; soil lead levels near these sites can reach an alarming 14,000 mg/kg, polluting our water sources. UCC is intervening with safety tools and training to turn these risks into a sustainable, high-impact ecosystem. Let's protect our people and our planet while we innovate! #EwasteManagement #DigitalUganda
UCC@UCC_Official

Today in downtown Kampala, at Cornerstone Plaza, we witnessed how far the story of e-waste management is going. Not limited to just broken phones, TVs, and laptops, we have people fixing what can be fixed, cleaning, upgrading, and giving them new life, and that is how many Ugandans are earning a living and making technology affordable. However, we also saw the risks; the handling of dangerous parts with bare hands, and when nothing more can be done, the waste often ends up in ordinary dustbins, potentially endangering our soils and waters. UCC continues to support the good work towards proper E-Waste Management, training the players, giving them safety tools, and building an ecosystem to turn E-waste into value and positive impact for Uganda. #EwasteManagement #DigitalUganda @MoICT_Ug @UCC_ED @UgCERT @ConsumerUCC @Bbossa
