You can’t say that about the Indy 500 or any traditional network broadcast. Not to mention ad-free race.

@richardaucock Watched the Indy 500. Fox have cameras on every car. You don't miss anything and there are 33 cars! @f1 broadcasting has always been piss poor. F1 makes more money than any other motorsport in the world, but gives the poorest broadcasting.

F1’s biggest problem right now is surely the terrible TV direction. Something happening? Yup, we’ve missed it.

@BrettBaldeck @SportsonPrime It’s about $10 to buy a one-month subscription for all five races. Saving $1 a month would suffice. I don’t get the complaints.; it’s not like it’s $200.

@GingerSnaps @NASCAR @CLTMotorSpdwy @PrimeVideo FOX turned down the race for the Indy 500. CBS isn’t interested. NBC spun NASCAR to USA with a few contract exceptions. ABC/ESPN isn’t interested. CW is more limited and has O’Reilly. There’s none available and Prime has more subscribers than cable.

I’m sure they do… not the point, though… broadcasting races behind a paywall prevents anyone who isn’t a Prime subscriber from watching an event we’ve had on free TV since racing started being televised. Not everyone can afford to pay for Prime… including a huge part of NASCAR’s target audience.

@Pastor_RonJ @NASCAR All races should be streamed exclusively. No time commitments, fewer ads overall, and better picture quality. They could even make it where you could select different in-car cameras like F1 on Apple TV. Not possible on traditional tv.

@Kirt_Achenbach It started when in 2001 when NASCAR consolidated the television rights. They pay millions a year to broadcast races. It’s the reason you have later starts now, too.

Hot topic right now but When did TV networks start dictating so much? I don’t remember this being such a problem years ago. Hate it for the drivers and especially the fans at the track. Fox needs to do better

So...what exactly were the adverse conditions? The Indy 500 starting on a completely different channel?

@FiveWideSports Perhaps we should be complaining more about the quality of drivers than officiating. If they didn’t wreck every 12 laps, maybe they could have completed the entire race.

Imagine paying for a nascar truck ticket, you wait all weekend to watch it and then they cut it short for Indycar in a different state.

@the_48_fan I was suppose to go to the 600, 6 hour drive, made the call not to go due to weather. Will instead be watching from my couch.

@MargiCulp @NASCAR I wish the entire season was on Prime. Their coverage far exceeds anything on broadcast or cable television. By the way, Prime is here to stay for their five races until at least 2031.

Why can’t @NASCAR have the Coca Cola 600 on a normal channel instead of Prime? Unfortunately, we can’t watch the race unless we stream. And, we won’t.

@A_S12 @FS1 @SBJ @GettyImages NASCAR’s television fragmentation is absolutely butchering viewership. It doesn’t help that NASCAR doesn’t have many big personalities to bring in viewers either. The racing quality isn’t terrible, but this car is too similar to sports cars instead of gen 3-6 stock.

@hayategekkou @A_S12 @Apple @F1 @Tubi @YahooSports @SBJ That’s simply not true. The standalone subscription is gone but the app itself is fully functional after linking it with Apple TV. Actually, the cost is less because Apple TV is $99/yr while F1 TV Premium was $129/yr.

.@Apple is releasing more info on ways to watch @F1 this year, including alt casts on @Tubi for multiple races, live streaming of practice sessions and qualifying on @YahooSports platforms and working with EverPass to make the Grand Prix events available in bars and restaurants.
