@politicstcan They need another 20-25 goal scorer at the very least

@PuckMyLeafs @alexadamsBTP_ They replaced Brady with Eklund and Giroux with Burakovsky . Last I checked doing nothing is better than downgrading 2 positions and even worse if they sign Ersson to backup

@alexadamsBTP_ So Ottawa hasn’t done a good thing but Montreal potentially done a good thing ? Makes zero sense

Steve Staios essentially replaced Tkachuk with Eklund and Giroux with Burakovsky and is calling on guys like Foegele , Zetterlund and Greig to step up and cover the goals we are missing. How is the fanbase not calling for his head more? #GoSensGo

@EverydaySens If we target another 15-20 goal scorer I might blow my brains out

I still think they add another forward. Probably not an impact piece (price is crazy) but someone who can give you 15-20+ goals. Clear hole at LW2 and Green seemed hestitant to give Foegele or Zetterlund more TOI last season. Wonder about Arvidsson/Lee/Marchment/Roslovic/Bjorkstrand/Bunting/Jenner-types tomorrow.

Ottawa’s depth chart prior to free agency. Without MacDermid as an extra, they have $11.1M in cap space. #GoSensGo I still think Giroux signs. It would be shocking to see him go anywhere else. Don’t expect them to spend right to the cap but there is space for more.

Macklin Celebrini Time on Ice with other Forwards this season: - Will Smith ~ 850 5v5 mins ~ 37 5v5 Points - Collin Graf ~ 404 5v5 mins ~ 32 5v5 Points - Igor Chernyshov ~ 304 5v5 mins ~ 14 5v5 Points - Tyler Toffolli ~ 279 5v5 mins ~ 31 5v5 Points - William Eklund ~ 250 5v5 mins ~ 31 5v5 Points In a lot of ways, William Eklund was tasked with producing away from Celebrini this season as San Jose's secondary scoring platoon... And it's fair to say he did exceptionally well playing with the likes of Alex Wennberg more than Macklin Celebrini There's a massive opportunity for Eklund now in Ottawa, while we might not have a Celebrini, a Stützle, a Cozens, or a Pinto, all offer Eklund something different but complementary to his skills

#Sens have made getting forward Claude Giroux signed a priority before noon tomorrow. If he becomes a UFA, he will have interest.

@ADiMarco25 I think the first deal makes a ton more sense for Ottawa. But Ottawa would likely have to add something

I think Tippett for Greig or Tippett and Risto for Cozens and the 25th would've been a fair trade for both sides.
KadriSens@KadriSens

@ADiMarco25 Well they’re not untouchable, but no one really on Philly we should be trading them for.

@cdiddy613 @ADiMarco25 Because of what I just wrote. He can get a return worth more than he provides on a nightly basis with their current makeup. If a team's best 4 players are league-wide top 5 goalies- do they keep them because they are talented? Or move one or more to improve roster construction?

I mean sure but now you have what, maybe two (depending what becomes of Eklund) top-six caliber wingers? They're leaving Stutzle with no top-line talent to play with. I understand they like their centers but I find it surprising that Cozens and Greig are so untouchable.
KadriSens@KadriSens

@ADiMarco25 Smart move on their part

@ADiMarco25 We have holes up front so we should trade an area where we have a surplus like Center for Rasmus Ristolainen? Or are you reporting that one of the Flyers top 6 wingers would be the return? I’m confused by your logic

@ADiMarco25 Having all centers is more valuable than all wings, but is still egregious mismanagement of roster spots. In this market, Cozens can get you a top 6 wing, another NHL wing, a prospect, AND a future ONE. How is keeping him as 3C better value?

@ADiMarco25 I personally don't see what Ottawa sees in their centers. I don't see what the Flyers see in Ottawa's centers.

@SteveOnSens In 3 years that’s 24-27 . Same age as Stutzle and Sanderson if they’re 27. Our window is stutzle and Sanderson until they’re the end of their prime around 30-32. We don’t have 4 years to wait just for late 1sts to join the team

Ottawa’s only path to contention is and always will be drafting and developing. After this weekend’s picks, you hopefully get an injection of youth towards the end of 18 and 85’s deals that convince them that they can win in Ottawa.

I think the answer is obvious. Staios has been interested in Robertson, Weegar, Anderson, Kyrou, etc. Big names that reportedly did not want to waive to come here. If Ersson or Burakovsky were UFAs, no guarantee they’d pick Ottawa, even if they didn’t have a lineup of suitors.
Graeme Nichols@GraemeNichols

What I don't really understand about the Ersson and Burakovsky deals is that, if you like the players, okay. But, why the rush and urge to trade assets when they did instead of waiting until after qualifying offers were due or on July 1st? What was the rush?
