I know we yell at transplants a lot but seriously...you guys MUST get comfortable having people of color as friends and acquaintances. This blinding fluorescent whiteness, in packs, is not the move here. It makes you look unbelievably provincial and narrowminded if you're not mingling with the different cultures in the city. I haven't been to St Mark's Place since it became a Midwestern college campus for fifth-year seniors but seeing it so starkly without a SINGLE person of color of any kind, in New York, is wild. I've literally never seen a street in New York of only white people before.

Unpopular opinion: Ai is overrated. I’m tired of seeing Ai cringe videos. I don’t want ‘Ai enhanced’ computer chips - computers already can run Ai so what’s the point. Ai has ruined art and music already. Companies are force feeding everyone Ai and no one I know wants it. Google force fed Ai into its search engine and people are switching to duck duck go. Only 3% of people use Microsoft’s copilot Ai even when it’s provided for free with corporate office license bundles. Ai has some use cases but most people don’t need or want a sassy semi sentient program running locally. Seems like the only reason to jam Ai chips into everything is to enable skynet like abilities so Ai can eventually be impossible to shut off, like the internet. We are blindly rushing to the event horizon, while a handful of people get rich in the process. Since X runs on Ai now, I’m sure this post will be buried and not shown to anyone. Can’t say I didn’t try.

I genuinely think a lot of millennials are reaching the same conclusion at the same time. We grew up watching technology make life better every year. Cell phones. iPods. Smartphones. An app for everything. It felt like the future was arriving right in front of us, and we couldn’t wait for what came next. Then somewhere along the way, it changed. Everything became a subscription. Social media became algorithms. Every day feels like another once-in-a-lifetime event. The things that were supposed to save us time somehow ended up demanding more of our attention than ever. We were sold convenience. What we got was a world that feels faster, louder, more expensive, and somehow less human. And that’s why so many people I know dream about a completely different life now. Not more technology. Not more optimization. Just a quiet job, a flip phone, a small town, and a place where life feels real again.
