@VivichanIF You can’t create an analogy with movies and video games because a video game has two major components to fully understand it (visual story and gameplay) while a movie only has one (visuals) it just won’t work

@dearreader_yail @_mangrub @TsukiiSparda Your analogy is bad because it assumes all aspects are equally important which isn't true. If you watch a music video on mute you're still only missing one aspect but the whole experience falls apart which isn't the case for audiobooks

@kattzii_art @SNK_LRD “Gatekeep” and it’s just playing a game. Why would you want to be in the in-group of a game you haven’t played???? Liking it ≠ fan. Fandom of any sort even outside of games requires interacting with part of the core IP itself.

This whole conversation is about people not interacting with the media they claim to be a fan of, op is using the wiki analogy because both didn’t interact with each respective media of interests not which poop is better

@BaskEddBall @TsukiiSparda Also for a lot of people (including me) the story and characters and lore are the most important parts!! I don’t really enjoy turn based games, but I play the persona series because I like the story.

@dearreader_yail @TsukiiSparda It doesn’t matter when both are the same, what good is it to be a fan and not engage with said media? Is lore all there is to games? To be a fan of a gaming franchise is to play it, it’s a game. People are missing so many gold because of this exact mentality

Both his and your analogy can work but you’re downplaying the importance of gameplay in videoGAME which is the vocal point of op’s cmmnt

@SunnyComb000 @TsukiiSparda It is an extremely vital component, and some games are just about the gameplay, however you cannot have a story game without story, which is also a very vital component. I trust someone who watched a playthrough to understand the story.

@dearreader_yail @TsukiiSparda Change that perfectly captures what the Phantom Thieves are about. If you swap them into each other's games yeah the music still bangs, but it doesn't work anymore because it's all there to support the gameplay and story of their respective games

@_mangrub @TsukiiSparda A summary cannot impart on you the complex characterization and arcs and mindsets characters have because THAT IS NOT ITS PURPOSE!!!! A playthrough CAN, because the whole point of it is going through the ENTIRE game because SOMEONE IS ACTUALLY PLAYING IT!!

@_mangrub @TsukiiSparda A playthrough, especially a silent playthrough goes through the full game therefore you have a better idea about the pacing and can have a better conversation about it than someone who just read “the beginning can be pretty slow but it picks up near the end”
