I like Grantham but he is missing one huge factor that makes this market so different than others of the past. Aggressive QE and money printing post 2008, that was ramped up aggressively post Covid 2020, and now throw in unprecedented fiscal spending. This will eventually come to an end but who knows when and in the interim cash has been and will continue to be destroyed by currency debasement. Those on Main Street who don’t own assets as a hedge are getting decimated, absolutely decimated.

Canadian police chief forced to make a video statement after his officers started running the plates of attractive women coming out of coffee shops and gyms. Ottawa police chief Eric Stubbs is calling on officers who use police databases to meet women to quit. Stubbs says these officers are turning police databases into "their own way to meet women." "We've seen members messaging vulnerable victims on calls that they've attended in an attempt to develop an intimate relationship," Stubbs said. Despite the accusations, Stubbs says the police force has committed to hiring enough women so that females make up 30% of the workforce, according to CBC.

Typical Macklem. His warnings on global imbalances (China overproduction, heavy US capital flows, etc.) line up perfectly with Mark Carney’s agenda — and nothing more. These two have deep history: Macklem was Carney’s Senior Deputy Governor at the Bank of Canada. Now the supposedly independent central bank is conveniently flagging exactly the issues that justify Carney’s big spending, nuclear push, infrastructure bets, and efforts to attract global capital on “Canadian terms.”
Canadians cannot trust the Bank of Canada anymore when its messaging so neatly serves the PM’s political and economic priorities. This isn’t neutral analysis — it’s coordinated narrative.
