"The venue has a 21-and-older policy, except during weekend brunch, as well as a strict dress code that requires collared shirts and jackets for men and cocktail dresses for women."

@nikitabier @NateSilver538 Why does this account with 500k followers struggle to get 10 likes on their posts? I'm genuinely asking.

English

I would not use follower count as a measure of people patiently waiting for their posts.
NY Times has been suggested in onboarding during registration since the founding of this website (even today they are bundled in the News starterpack for batch-following).
Because of this, many of their followers are people’s second accounts, brand accounts, or users who have churned from Early Twitter.
I would wager that less than 15% of that number is daily active, a common active rate for the “legacy” accounts like Bieber and Obama.
Having said that, we are exploring concepts that show active followers instead.

@coldhealing @NateSilver538 True, but I don't think post quality and information accuracy are necessarily in conflict with long term site traffic and engagement
English

@NateSilver538 The problem at its core is mixed incentives. Twitter's incentive is to maximize traffic on site, not maximize quality of overall internet experience or information accuracy
English

53m people signed up for the NYT account which has never had much "voice" as opposed to some of its writers. That's because they were using Twiiter as a news feed with the on-platform discussion as a side course. Now that use case is broken. Few of the 53m even see their tweets.

@JohnCarreyrou @NateSilver538 This is how the New York Times should be posting, not DDoS’ing X with link and 1 sentence captions

@culturecanceler They don't fire a lot of people, it's just a really grinding environment and people leave of their own accord (I was one of them)
English

@eastsidedav I believe they hire and fire in 18 month waves lol

All of these people could get a job paying 70k+ at Epic Systems in Verona, WI.

It's hard out there

dreading every day left of classes. I don't really like this school thing anymore
dav@eastsidedav
a few weeks left of law school and I've having this burnout/brain fog/ psychic block thing where I can't read more than a few sentences of school work without my vision going blurry
English

@ZoharAtkins @elaifresh Imo this is much closer to the English common law system than Talmudic inquiry.

@zhuphilia This is a crisis. Fewer and fewer people with engage with anyone they don't know in social settings. I was at a wedding recently where I didn't know anyone outside the wedding party and I found literally one couple who would do basic normal chit chat with me.
