I reside in Ijesha-Surulere. Last night, the @Lawma_gov truck moved round streets to collect bagged waste. This morning, drains are being cleared by residents because it's mandatory. Even compounds who wouldn't bother normally are getting involved. Streets are being swept clean by shop owners. Sanity gradually returning to filthy Ijesha. On Day One. Let it be known that I'm in support of the monthly sanitation exercise in Lagos. With my full chest

Please don’t join in with the buffoons criticising Gyökeres. He constantly got the team up the pitch today. The lack of control was on the technical half of the team who didn’t step up. Showing big balls is getting on the ball and dribbling. Any dummy can be aggressive in duels. Also, don’t act as if Havertz definitely executes this action. Or Haaland. Or Osimhen. Or whoever. Leave your agenda at the door.

Don't know which game y'all watched with all these negative takes I'm seeing. Maybe it's the emotions. Arsenal played well in the 2nd half. Way better than the 1st. Esp when Bukayo came on. On another day, they should have scored three. Restricted Newcastle to just one clear goalscoring opportunity and were on the front foot. You aren't going to win games with many goals at this point of the season. Better enjoy the three points and onto the next.

"If you can drive in Lagos, you can drive anywhere" This is one statement I hate. This is not driving you people are doing in Lagos. This is madness!

Environmental sanitation initiative that happens just once in a month for about two hours is one thing I never believed anyone would frown at in this Lagos. We should be asking that the government follows it up with a robust waste collection plan instead. It’s not necessarily aimed at solving the problem per se but it can reset behavior and make people take ownership of the environment. An environment we clean together is one we’re more likely to protect together.

@GRVlagos let me respectfully disagree. Shutting down a city of over 20 million people is not what we are doing. We are asking residents to dedicate one hundred and twenty minutes, once every thirty days, to clean their immediate surroundings. That is not a shutdown. That is called taking responsibility. I agree completely that waste management logistics, from collection to disposal to recycling, are critical. That is why we have spent the past year strengthening those very systems. We have banned single use plastics, we are converting Olusosun landfill to energy, we are deploying biogas facilities in our markets, we are partnering with Lafarge to turn waste into valuable resources, and we are empowering young innovators with technology to improve sanitation access. These are not cosmetic actions. They are structural changes to how Lagos manages waste. But here is what I also know. No system of waste management, no matter how sophisticated, will succeed if citizens refuse to take basic responsibility for their environment. You cannot complain about flooding while dumping refuse in drains. You cannot demand a cleaner city while sweeping waste into the road. You cannot blame government for a dirty environment when you are unwilling to clean the front of your own house. The monthly sanitation exercise is not a substitute for systemic reform. It is a complement to it. It is about rebuilding a culture of environmental stewardship that has been lost over time. Technology and infrastructure alone cannot save a city whose people have abandoned personal responsibility. We welcome objective criticism that offers solutions. But dismissing a civic exercise as unimaginative, while offering no alternative path to citizen participation, does not move us forward. #LagosSanitationExercise

Tomorrow morning between 6:30am and 8:30am, we begin a new chapter in our collective journey toward a cleaner Lagos. The monthly environmental sanitation exercise returns, and I am calling on every resident to come out and participate actively. Let me address the confusion some have tried to create. No court pronouncement has invalidated this exercise. The State proceeded to the Court of Appeal, and judgment was delivered in our favour. The Court affirmed that the laws used for the implementation and enforcement of environmental sanitation are legitimate and constitutional. So disregard those who choose to mislead the public. We have planned this for over a year. We have thought it through. We cannot keep complaining about dirty surroundings and blaming government while shirking our own responsibilities. The care of our environment is a collaborative project between government and citizens. Major transport unions controlling about 90% of vehicles on our roads have pledged not to deploy their vehicles from major parks during the sanitation window. If government vehicles are staying put, what will it cost us to stay home for just two hours to clean our environment? We are not unreasonable. Exceptions exist for emergencies, scheduled flights, and students writing JAMB exams. LAWMA has been fully mobilized to evacuate waste generated. Environmental health officers will monitor properties, and defaulters will be served abatement notices. Tomorrow, let us show Lagos and the world that we are ready to take ownership of our environment. Two hours. One Saturday each month. Lagos State Environmental Sanitation Day is NOT an opportunity to play street Football.

That is a very impressive stat for Arteta no matter how you look at it. It's not like he can decide not to be at the top when his team wins a game or has more points than everyone else. Stop this agenda of equating being in the lead to winning titles. Have you not watched a marathon before? Regardless of whatever you think, Arteta, fresh of being an assistant manager was made to compete with the best there ever has been in winning the league. And he has been pushing him all the way all the time. How many accomplished managers can say that? We have seen Pep literally conquer every league he has been in and crush all managers he has faced. Pep Guardiola is the best there is when it comes to winning the league. The only thing better than Pep Guardiola is a Pep Guardiola with unlimited funds. That is what Arteta has had to deal with all these years. Take this season for example, when Pep saw that his team was not up to par, he went and bought 2 of the best in form players in the league. How many teams can do that? So you can go ahead with your banter, but we all know that a league with no Pep is a league Arteta will dominate. I for one want him to at least win this league while Pep is there to sort of prove himself.
