A “one-time” wealth tax? That’s the oldest trick in the book @RBReich temporary never stays temporary.
Under @GavinNewsom , California has gone from surplus to massive deficit while already having some of the highest taxes in the country. So now the solution is… more taxes? For hard working Americans and businesses?
Let’s be honest about what’s really happening:
• Billions in spending with little accountability while not taking care of those in need
• Businesses and high earners leaving the state, eliminating jobs for hardworking, deserving citizens
• A shrinking tax base being asked to carry an even bigger load while spending increases
You don’t fix bad spending by punishing the people who are still paying the bills all while an offensive gas tax on all residents
And calling this “preserving democracy” is insulting. There is nothing democratic about forcing a smaller and smaller group of people to fund a system that refuses to fix itself and then charging everyone for the mismanagement.
If this model worked, California would be thriving, not losing population, companies, and capital.
This isn’t leadership. It’s insanity and projection .
Fix the spending. Stop the excuses.

You keep posting here pointing to GDP like it proves success.
It doesn’t.
GDP counts activity, even when that activity is driven by high costs and government spending like California.
Meanwhile, hard working families are getting priced out, taxed and and moved out all while businesses and jobs are leaving.
A big number isn’t the same as a strong outcome. We have all been imperfect in our work performance, but I’d like you to join me in admitting that.
You keep touting California’s GDP like it’s a report card on governance. It isn’t. It’s a population and price level headline. A giant GDP can coexist with high housing costs, high poverty by cost-adjusted measures, and a weak affordability picture.
I understand you want to run for President and what a great achievement that would be, but like many Presidents and leaders, don’t ignore empirical data aka facts escape you.
