I basically stopped tweeting a few months ago. I still get a lot of interesting info from twitter, but I didn't know what I was contributing anymore.

@Emma_Alexander @NAM2023_Cardiff 😬🤞 you stay negative. Seems very mild so far. It was my first big conference not wearing a mask and lo and behold my first COVID!

@OJ_Astro Do you have a non-twitter way of expressing interest? I can imagine some interested people are not on here!

Origin and future of CMB telescopes (with me inside them): earlier this year in a @SimonsObs SAT and this afternoon underneath Penzias and Wilson's Horn Antenna.

I used the word "corollary" incorrectly on a telecon yesterday, as if I didn't already have enough to keep me awake at night.

Colleague and I are teaching the #python course and we came up with an idea of “error bingo”. We are compiling a list of most common errors — add your own 🤣🤣 1/

Trying to be funny for an astronomy 101 course... Am I young enough to get away with this? haha

New paper day, attempting to answer the question - are any distant galaxies too big for our cosmological model? 🐘 arxiv.org/abs/2208.10479 In this study we use Extreme Value Statistics (EVS), a method for predicting the most massive object from a given distribution

TFW you get up at 7am whilst on holiday to finish an application, then rather than sending properly it just silently sits in your outbox over the weekend. 😕

@philipbull The specific case in my head this morning is eq.7 here: arxiv.org/abs/1901.01540 For sure I understand the steps getting to it, but I could not have gotten there myself (I think at least in part) due to lack of practice on simpler (but not trivial) examples.

Is there a course somewhere someone can recommend which would help me practice the skill of /looking at a problem and then writing down the likelihood/?
