@tcwpractice Exactly. The philosophy and the discipline aren't opposites. One without the other stays theory.

How to become the man you want to be (free): - Read 10 pages daily - Train 4x per week - Cut 3 people who drain you - Add 1 person who pushes you - Repeat for 365 days What's the excuse?

@TheHPHackers Still strange right? But I've seen it with many people / have others admit this as well.

@tcwpractice Brutal reframe, perfectly delivered. The addiction to our own suffering is the hardest one to admit and the most important one to break.

@BuildingJames_ Lose voluntarily. Or life will make you lose. In your own best interest but still.

Take the risk. Not for the win. Not even the feeling of winning. But for the loss. For the feeling of a loss. Losses suck. But you learn from them. They motivate you. They give you a stronger foundation. So take risks. Stack losses. Start winning. Then never stop.

I don't know who needs to hear this. But the world is up for the taking. Nobody is stopping you. No system. No circumstance. No person. Just you and the decision to actually go after it. Stop blaming. Start moving. You just haven't done enough yet.

being ready is a myth. you start, you suck, you figure it out, you get better that’s the only formula that works. every single time perfection paralysis has killed more dreams than failure ever will

Everyone has been there pushing yourself to the limit, forgetting the law of polarity. Burnout comes naturally. Rest is vital. because life is meant not only to improve the future but also TO ENJOY the NOW

@BuildingJames_ True! Do you have a framework for knowing what direction to work towards, and to keep track of it?

You need to be constantly vigilant that you are going the direction you want in life. Very easy to start drifting towards something you think you want but deep down don't actually want. Or worse, you start veering off course completely and start becoming someone you never wanted to be. Keep tabs on yourself and make sure the direction you are going is the right one for you.

When hyperfixated on a single goal in life, it's easy to get obsessive over small things As a "health guy" this relates to: Foods, endocrine disruptors, microplastics, hyper-optimised (almost neurotic) training routines, etc... But there’s something deeply healthy about a man focusing on real things: his work, his word, his home, the woman he loves, the life he'll give to his future children. Real purpose does more for a man's soul than any health optimisation ever could.

> you feel stressed? write more > you are afraid of the future? write more > you want to learn for your next exam? write more > you want to be more aware? write more > you can't sleep because your thoughts won't stop? write more > you don't know what you actually want? write more > you feel lost and overwhelmed? write more writing by hand forces your brain to slow down, process, and actually think. start writing.
Brandon Luu, MD@BrandonLuuMD

Students who took notes by hand scored ~28% higher on conceptual questions than laptop note-takers. Writing forces your brain to process and compress ideas instead of copying them.
