Brian doesn’t do theology, he just parrots the words like “confessional” he heard on podcasts to open the right doors for himself. But worse than that, he’s hurt a lot of actual people dragging his church along for a ride all around the theological landscape.

@hunterbaker @jchasedavis So, under your interpretation or preference here, the illegal alien from Guatemala who gives birth a month after breaking the law to cross our border—her child is/should be a U.S. citizen?

@jchasedavis I'm wary of your use of "any and all," but more broadly, yes.

I know many conservatives are unhappy with the idea birthright citizenship may survive, but I must confess I prefer going with the more obvious reading of the text rather than teasing and torturing it. If we stuck with that approach, we would never have had Roe v. Wade.

One million deportations in 2026, and more each year after that—this is the mandate from the 2024 election. The Mass Deportation Coalition has the playbook to get it done. Bring on Phase 2!

Something tells me that when Senator Jacob Howard wrote 'subject to the jurisdiction thereof' in the 14th amendment, his intention wasn't that pregnant Guatemalans could cross into Texas, give birth, and have a child with the same rights as you and I.

@WilliamWolfe @RodDMartin The Founders made no allowance for anchor babies. We can disagree civilly and legitimately about what legal immigration should be. But all tactics for illegal immigration are, in fact, illegal. And a nation without immigration laws will fast cease to be a nation.

Yesterday, the Supreme Court heard oral arguments in President Trump's challenge to restore the original meaning and intent of "Birthright Citizenship" under the 14th Amendment. This case results from President Trump's Executive Order on "Protecting The Meaning And Value Of American Citizenship," in which he rightly argues that "the Fourteenth Amendment has never been interpreted to extend citizenship universally to everyone born within the United States." One of the main things we aim to do here at CBL is to equip pastors and Christians to think biblically, constitutionally, and rightly about major political debates in America, especially when most "evangelical" outlets push Left-leaning narratives or simply abandon the field to the mainstream media. To that end, here's a /🧵/ with four excellent articles on the topic that we recommend to any pastor or Christian trying to better understand the issue from @RodDMartin, @benrcrenshaw, @WadeMiller, and @DrJohnEastman

How should Christians think about the Birthright Citizenship battle between Donald Trump and the Supreme Court? @RodDMartin breaks it down: “Birthright citizenship, as it is currently interpreted, is a misreading of the 14th Amendment and a severe threat to American sovereignty. It fuels illegal immigration, burdens taxpayers, and erodes the fundamental meaning of citizenship.” centerforbaptistleadership.org/the-case-again…

Finally, read leading conservative scholar on this debate, John Eastman, at @theammind, who has been arguing for years that "the 14th Amendment’s Citizenship Clause does not provide automatic citizenship for everyone born on U.S. soil, no matter the circumstances." americanmind.org/features/the-c…

“The United States, like any sovereign nation, has the right to define its citizenry based on allegiance, not geographic happenstance.” Pastors and Christians need to understand what’s really at play with the Birthright Citizenship case under the 14th Amendment. @RodDMartin explains at @BaptistLeaders today.
