@338Canada Correct me if I’m wrong but didn’t Clinton have similar odds of winning?

@mileslunn @globeandmail It is a waste of money. Ford should have followed through when he was first elected and voided the deal through legislation, not paying the brewers a dime.

@SyntheticusAlt I completely agree. If you're old enough to have an interest in voting, you should be allowed to. I'm 100% certain there are 10 year olds with a better understanding of the issues than many adults.

@SyntheticusAlt I mean it's poison, and like most poisons, small amounts have little to no ill effects. Your body completely heals from one cigarette in about a month.

@SyntheticusAlt Vancouver and Toronto are exceptions tbh. Same with Calgary and whatnot. While, yes, Canada has pockets that are very diverse, the country as a whole is still extremely white.

@SyntheticusAlt Yeah I don’t disagree. I was about to say, Canada’s diversity is pretty comparable to the US. Though, the US also has way more black people and Hispanics than us lol.

@cselley It's fascinating how many people will rail against any kind of moderate reforms as Americanization and demonize Americans at every turn, only to adopt an American understanding of the Constitution and reject the Westminster concept of Parliamentary supremacy.

@lcibiarque @SyntheticusAlt So you think someone else should be doing it? People that go to school solely to learn how to kill people who ask for it that aren't called doctors? Maybe undertakers could start doing it?

@The_Maple_Crown I feel like they just wouldn't respond and wouldn't care that their double standard was exposed. I mean they didn't care when journalists and political scientists pointed out it was blatantly illegal, I can't see them caring about being called out for double standards.

@AddleyMa But, henceforth, any other provincial gov't can point to QC & say, "they did it". How could the federal gov't respond without exposing a glaring double-standard? It's 100% true. Hopefully, a not-too-distant-future federal ministry will have the temerity to do something about it.

Not only was that move by the QC legislature un-Canadian—rejecting the foundation of Confederation & the source of QC parliamentarians’ authority (not “the people of QC”)—it set a precedent for QC & any other province to ignore or change the constitution as it pleases.
Chris Selley@cselley

I mean, honestly, Quebec just unilaterally rewrote the 1867 Constitution Act to free MNAs from the burden of swearing allegiance to the monarch. It can't do that. But it did. It's done. Because no one objected. So piss off, frankly, with this "rule of law for all" BS.

@AddleyMa @acoyne I fight for my freedom. Sacrifices of my freedoms supporting a proxy war and money laundering scam in another country is stupid.

Unless — hear me out — unless — just spitballing here — unless the Tories do something unthinkably stupid like, I don’t know, vote against a Canada-Ukraine trade deal for no plausible reason, leaving everyone to wonder what their real reason was.
Marc Lévesque@MarcLevesqueEco

So, it increasingly looks like the Liberals’ strategy to reverse their declining support is to accuse the Conservatives of importing MAGA Trumpism into Canada and supporting Vladimir Putin. It won’t work. It may even make matters worse.

@acoyne I agree with the Conservatives on this. Corruption is rampant. The war is over and Ukraine didn’t win. No more. Focus in Canada. Enough is enough.

BREAKING: Justin Trudeau’s NDP-Liberal government just defeated our Conservative motion to provide more weapons and munitions to Ukraine and help them defeat Russia’s illegal war of aggression. Why is Trudeau trying to appease Putin, again?
