@MermelsteinLeah @SWLiteracy I was just trained last spring and have been using it for about 3 weeks. I can't say enough how great the training was and the program. I have already observed significant improvement from Ss this year both in decoding and spelling and I'm only 3 weeks in. I'm over the moon.

@aliceleung There are are great non fiction decodable readers now too! I'd start with the @LoveLiteracyAU sets for a 6yo 😊 Pretty sure they're available on an App?

I thought I would have better luck with home readers with Miss 6. She has been consistently and enthusiastically reading decodable readers for almost a term. In the last couple of weeks, she has been refusing to read them. Says they are “less interesting than real books”. 🙄

@mrjergenskinder Besides UFLI, what other programs effectively integrate phonemic awareness instruction with phonics and connected text?

@FaithBorkowsky @buckingham_j @SWLiteracy @ReadSimplified @EBLI_Nora I'm surprised that listing how some letter names give clues to their sounds is listed as a reason. As usual, @spelfabet describes this well. I've seen so many students for intervention who spell words like 'men' as 'mn' ("mmm en") because of confusion between sounds and names.

I was just trained in @SWLiteracy. I'm very excited to begin next school year. Just went through my academic vocabulary list to correlate with sound spelling patterns. Here is one for /ee/. I think this is another way to embed academic vocabulary throughout the school day.

@SWLiteracy @smorrisey The training was outstanding! I love how @SWLiteracy blends knowledge with concrete lessons. Then, it allows teachers agency in making decisions about which lessons when based upon student strength and needs.
