The Halo effect mixed with Overconfidence Transfer. I don’t think Dunning Kruger is exactly right either. Right? Thinking you’re good at things you’re not, for DK does not require that you’re actually good at one thing. Isn’t DK just delusional over confidence? My sort of favorite is when Leonard Nimoy would visit NASA and he said scientists would talk about their projects like he was highly technical and understood what they were saying. I’m way off track.

Pretty sure the Dunning Kruger effect is when someone who isn't very good at something over-estimates his competence in that area. In other words, someone who is dumb at something thinks he's smart at that thing. This is very different from the scenario where someone who is good at one thing believes that he's also good at other things, or everything. I don't know what this is called...but the Bobby Fischer effect is a good a description as any.

Cole Allen is the Dunning-Kruger Assassin. Allen is not some random nut job from the fringes of society. He’s a very articulate graduate of Caltech, which means he has a high degree of native intelligence. He’s in the education profession. He is on BlueSky. He goes to No Kings protests. He’s your basic rank-and-file Democrat. But it’s that high native intellect that led him astray. The Dunning-Kruger Effect is, at its simplest level, people thinking they know more that they do. People who are high achievers in one area often mistakenly believe their native abilities make them experts in all areas. So you get a super-smart guy like Allen, he excels in one narrow area, and extrapolates that excellence into thinking he knows more than he does in other areas. He goes into Blue Sky, he goes to No Kings protests, and he is easily swayed into believing all of the insane, violent lies those sorts of intellectual cesspools foster. All of a sudden this computer science expert is a national political policy expert too, except that latter expertise is derived from insane propaganda. The man with the intellectual skill to write code is not smart enough to recognize when he himself has fallen prey to propaganda, so he KNOWS that Donald Trump is Hitler and must be stopped. And when you KNOW that someone is Hitler, what’s the right thing to do? That’s what is so scary at this very moment—the sheer number of ostensibly educated Democrats who KNOW so many things are “true" that are actually so very, very untrue. In many ways, Cole Allen is just an average Democrat, and like most average Democrats, he fell prey to credentialism and Dunning-Kruger. But Cole took it to the next level; let’s pray more do not.

@SenatorHarckham Pesticides can be a problem. And habit destruction, like the kind caused by constructing massive solar arrays, is also a negative. Otherwise, Earth history tells us that species adapt to ever-changing weather/climate if they are to survive. Did you not learn that in school?

Butterflies are an essential to ecosystems and are facing imminent extinction due to climate change and pesticides. Losing cornerstone species will affect everything, including us, even if some would like to pretend that our actions have no consequences. smithsonianmag.com/science-nature…

@justalexoki I think I may have seen this once in my life, and that was in England. Almost all of us have dryers. A few of us are retro and have outside clotheslines, though I haven't seen one of those in a long time either

Last night, CNN, TMZ, CBS and others reported the dinner gunman was “confirmed dead.” In fact, he was alive and had not been shot. (Just shot at). At a dinner honoring White House reporting, the rush to be first instead of being accurate was on full display. Speaks volumes.

The attacker is from California, where they have gun control. He came to DC, where they gave gun control. And on his person he amassed a bunch of weapons — amid the double gun control. It just seemed ironic, that’s all. Especially because I fully expect for his background to reveal that he supported the politics that disarm law-abiding folks.

Hello from backstage. We’re in a hold behind the stage right now. Staff are going out to reset the head table.  POTUS never left and is down the hall from me. He wants the show to go on.  We’re told by his detail someone tried to get through the mags with a gun. The counter assault team did their job (unclear what that means) and the subject is now offsite. POTUS was evacuated to a hold - the rest of us from the head table are down the hall from him. Secret service had to determine if there were any other threats, we are being told there are no threats.  The building is NOT being evacuated. We are waiting for staff to reset head table to resume the program.
