Cruise Missile Defense is critical to homeland defense. NORAD increases posture to support Operation ICE CAMP. The North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD) is increasing the posture of its forces in Alaska and Canada to support the U.S. Navy’s Operation ICE CAMP 2026. NORAD will be conducting air patrols throughout ICE CAMP 2026 to reinforce the security of the region. NORAD's mission is to ensure no threat approaches North America undetected," said Gen. Gregory M. Guillot, commander, North American Aerospace Defense Command. Up close to the homeland defense mission. This week #NORAD commander General Gregory Guillot visited the Louisiana Air National Guard’s 159th Fighter Wing at Naval Air Station Joint Reserve Base New Orleans. The wing maintains Aerospace Control Alert for NORAD, keeping fighters and crews ready to launch within minutes to defend North American airspace. During his visit, Gen. Guillot met with leaders and Airmen supporting the alert mission and flew backseat in an F-15 piloted by 159th Fighter Wing's Capt. Lau Jackson. #WeHaveTheWatch

PETERSON SPACE FORCE BASE, Colo. – The North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD) detected and tracked two Russian TU-142 military aircraft operating in the Alaskan and Canadian Air Defense Identification Zones (ADIZ) on March 4, 2026. NORAD launched two U.S. Air Force F-35 fighter aircraft, two F-22 fighter aircraft, four KC-135 tankers, one E-3 AWACS, two Canadian CF-18 fighter aircraft, and one CC-150 tanker to positively identify, monitor, and intercept the Russian aircraft in the American and Canadian Air Defense Identification Zones. norad.mil/Newsroom/Press….

NORAD successfully completed Operation GLOBAL GUARDIAN earlier this week. As a U.S. Strategic Command Bomber Task Force transited from the Indo-Pacific into Alaska, through Canada, and into the Continental U.S., NORAD’s Alaskan, Canadian, and Continental U.S. Regions capitalized on the opportunity to execute and coordinate sequential tracking and intercepts of an American  B-52 Stratofortress, acting as a simulated threat to North America. This inter-regional cooperation demonstrates the binational Command’s seamless and layered defense of North America. PETERSON SPACE FORCE BASE, Colo. – The North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD) detected and tracked two Tu-95s, two Su-35s, and one A-50 operating in the Alaskan Air Defense Identification Zone (ADIZ) on Feb.19, 2026. Today, NORAD F-16 aircraft responded to a civilian aircraft that entered restricted airspace under a Temporary Flight Restriction (TFR) over Fort Bragg, North Carolina. The situation was resolved safely. Our activity in Greenland draws to a close. 🇺🇸🇨🇦 American and Canadian personnel and aircraft from all three of our NORAD regions, and led by the Canadian NORAD Region (CANR), have commenced redeployment from Pituffik Space Base, Greenland, following completion of Operation NOBLE DEFENDER (OND). Built on long-standing defensive cooperation between the United States and Canada as well as the Kingdom of Denmark and conducted at planned intervals, this #NORAD operation enhances the Command's defense capabilities in the Arctic while operating out of 🇬🇱Greenland. Thank you to our 🇩🇰Danish partners who provided stand-by Search & Rescue and for the first time during an OND, conducted complementary, adjacent air defense activities over Iceland, demonstrating the collective defense of partners and allies in the Arctic. North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD) aircraft will soon arrive at Pituffik Space Base, Greenland.  Along with aircraft operating from bases in the continental United States and Canada, they will support various long-planned NORAD activities, building on the enduring defense cooperation between the United States and Canada, as well as the Kingdom of Denmark. This activity has been coordinated with the Kingdom of Denmark, and all supporting forces operate with the requisite diplomatic clearances.  The Government of Greenland is also informed of planned activities. NORAD routinely conducts sustained, dispersed operations in the defense of North America, through one or all three NORAD regions (Alaska, Canada, and the continental U.S.).

NORAD aircraft are conducting a planned live-fly air exercise in support of Operation #NobleEagle above Southwestern Louisiana between Lafayette and Lake Charles.
