From Wednesday, April 22nd, to Sunday, April 26, your Colorado Springs Firefighters have responded to 5 wildland fires, all suspected to be human-caused. -One in Palmer Park -Three in Broadmoor Bluffs on the same night -One near 1/25 and Cimarron 𝐄𝐧𝐨𝐮𝐠𝐡 𝐢𝐬 𝐞𝐧𝐨𝐮𝐠𝐡. In Colorado Springs, intentional fire setting is not a prank, it’s not “kids being kids,” and it's not a harmless mistake. The conditions we’re seeing right now and the conditions we saw when all of these fires were set – it's how wildfires start. To those responsible: This is not a joke. This is not a mistake. You are putting lives, homes, and our city at risk. Parents, talk to your kids today. Fire-setting is not harmless, and it is not a prank. 𝐀𝐧𝐝 𝐭𝐨 𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐦𝐮𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐲 — 𝐰𝐞 𝐧𝐞𝐞𝐝 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐡𝐞𝐥𝐩. ***Hammer Fire Update*** The El Paso County Sheriff's Office has LIFTED the EVACUATION ORDER for Hammer Rd east to S Peyton Hwy and Myers Rd north to Squirrel Creek. It is safe to return to the area.

As wildfire risk continues to rise in the Pikes Peak Region, regulatory clarity from the EPA on how wildfire emissions are treated is more important than ever. @RepGabeEvans’ FIRE Act would give states more flexibility to use prescribed burns & ensure out-of-state wildfire smoke does not unfairly count against our air quality standards.

I’m truly honored to meet with one of our constituents from Colorado Springs, Chris Kinnard with the Gold Star Spouses of America. She is the widow of SP4 James Kinnard, who was tragically KIA in Vietnam in 1969. She came to my office to advocate for legislation to support all our military surviving spouses to ensure they receive the proper resources from the VA.

CHA Vice President Josh Hannes and his team came to my office to discuss the burdens associated with prior authorizations and how we can work together to lower the cost of healthcare.

The Colorado Hospital Association represents over 100 urban and rural hospitals in Colorado, including 9 hospitals in #CO05. Hospitals provide quality care for our communities, and I am thankful for their efforts and all health care workers who provide this care.

The Military Officers Association of America is the nation’s largest nonprofit association of uniformed service officers, representing over 350,000 members from every branch.   I met with #CO05 constituents from MOAA in our DC office to discuss legislation that would support our service members and veterans, which aims to expand access to timely, high-quality care.
