How many times have I posted that schools should rebalance their sports offerings to fix their spend/rev allocations? Instead of cutting it, allow them to place a sport in D2 or D3 instead. People know I'm right about this, but they don't do it for some reason.

Schools don’t *have* to cut these sports, but nevertheless it is reality and tennis is vulnerable. Even though it’s a relatively small budget sport, the high number of foreign players makes it easier to justify “taking away opportunities”

@LBknowsBall Arkansas has 20 tennis players across both teams. $2.5M in expense = $125K per player. Oh, 13 of those 20 kids are foreigners. As a state school, why are tax payers subsidizing a) some rich kid non revenue sport, and before you say “but the Olympics”, what about the 13?

FWIW, Arkansas reported spending about $2.35 million on tennis (M+W) last season. That would be 14th out of 15 public schools in the SEC...but only school is spending more than 4 million. The gap isnt THAT big. (Data via Extra Points Library)

Hard for a 18yo HS grad to go and compete with a 20yo international coming off 2 years playing ITFs and now that he failed as a pro wants to come play here. Then we also go and give him a scholarship.
