The individual responsible for this horrific incident should face the full force of the law.
But let’s be absolutely clear: punishing an entire faith community for the actions of one person is neither fair nor sensible.
The kirpan has been carried responsibly by baptised Sikhs for over 300 years and is a recognised article of faith. Banning it would do nothing to tackle criminality and everything to undermine religious freedom.

Robert Jenrick has told @GBNEWS that Reform UK would ban the kirpan, the Sikh ceremonial knife, being carried in public after the murder of Henry Nowak. The differing rules on knives being allowed in public have been described as another example of two-tier justice.
