@Midjorityrules @dttpeople I've been addressing the initial claim, "kinderhook plates proves Joesph a fraud" which fails because its conflating a scientific effort (comparing glyphs) to a spiritual claim(translate via revelation). "Other Gods" argument doesnt work for anyone other than Catholic or Ortho.

@Wafflewarf @dttpeople That's the best you got? Called out on a bunch of lying and deception going on and you change it to, "Does this prove Smith wasn't a prophet?" Smith's teachings prove he wasn't a true prophet of God the Father. Smith taught of a different Elohim than that of Abraham and Moses.

I don't know how the Kinderhook Plate incident can be explained any other way except that Joseph Smith was a fraud. 🤷‍♂️ Constantly making up stories. Sorry

@23wjohnston @mcampbe @ThoughtfulSaint God the Father is Jesus's God and Father. He frequently puts himself below the God the Father. And the Son doesnt know the hour nor the day of His second coming. Therefore He isn't Omniscient. Therefore, He can't be fully God according to your own standards.

@mcampbe @ThoughtfulSaint You believe god the father, god the son and god the spirit are three separate gods - that makes you a polytheist by definition. You also believe god the father was a man like you - tell me what does “dwelt on AN earth” mean.

@ThoughtfulSaint Spirits are eternal and children of God, our bodies are mortal and children of men. until the next life where both are glorified together. thats our semantics. Everyone has two wolves in them right, two natures? None of this defines "Christian" tho.

lol. Except you can’t have two mutually exclusive natures in a single person. And you can’t have any meaningful distinctions whatsoever in divine simplicity.
Warren@23wjohnston

This is why people don’t consider Mormons Christians. Thomas Aquinas (c. 1225–1274) provides one of the most philosophically rigorous and systematic treatments of the Hypostatic Union in the Summa Theologica (especially Tertia Pars, Questions 1–26 on the Incarnation). Aquinas affirms —two complete natures (divine and human) in one person (hypostasis)—and answers key questions about how this union occurs. The hypostatic union is a “mixed relation.” The real relation is on the side of the created human nature (which comes to be united to the Word). The divine Person receives no new esse personale (personal existence) or change—only a new relation of His pre-existing personal being to the humanity. The Son now subsists also in the human nature, without any alteration to His divinity. Because there is one Person, divine attributes (e.g., eternity, omnipotence) and human attributes (e.g., birth, suffering, death) can both be truly predicated of the same Christ (e.g., “God died on the cross” or “the eternal Son was born of Mary”). The hypostatic union itself is the supreme grace (gratia unionis), uncreated in its divine term but involving a created reality in the humanity. It is distinct from Christ’s habitual sanctifying grace. Implications in Aquinas’s Christology • Christ has two wills and two operations (divine and human), united in the one Person. • The human nature is perfect and complete but dependent for its personhood on the divine Person. • This union is the greatest possible (after the Trinity itself), fitting for the salvation of humanity: only the God-man can repair the infinite offense against God while truly representing us. Aquinas’s account is deeply scriptural (e.g., John 1:14, Philippians 2:5–11) and patristic, while using precise metaphysical tools to avoid heresies like Nestorianism (two persons), Monophysitism (one mixed nature), or Adoptionism. It remains foundational in Catholic theology for understanding the Incarnation as a profound mystery that is nevertheless rationally defensible. For primary reading, start with Summa Theologica III, qq. 1–6.

@dttpeople JS looked at them, coincidentally found a glyph that was similar to one he knew , but quickly lost interest. No one claims was omniscient, but he clearly put little value on the KH plates. There's more fiction to your claims. mormonr.org/qnas/a9l1T/the…

@cb4136 @MikeCanning7 @joshnaa2gez Remembering tv commercials from my childhood is perverted? Crazy how you associate children toys with sexuality. Is sex your whole identity or are you still unraveling that in therapy?

There would be 0 benefit to having sex with a man because it produces nothing. So there’s actually no reason for me to go against my natural inclination to have sex with women. But, you know what is unnatural for almost all men? Monogamy. Do you really think it’s natural for a man to have sex with only one woman for the rest of his life? Of course, it’s not. But, guess what… monogamy is good for me, good for my wife, good for my children, and good for society. I choose to live a monogamous life. It’s unnatural. And it is also good.
Ark@MikeCanning7

@joshnaa2gez Why don't you have sex with a guy first just to show us how easy it is to flip that switch.

@MikeCanning7 @joshnaa2gez Doubt it, because it can easily be dismissed as bi. It takes a brave Gay man to have a straight marriage, switch or no, because he chooses to value it and because sexuality does not dictate his life choices.

@joshnaa2gez The benefit would be, actually showing people it's possible to flip the switch on their sexuality, for the greater good. You doing it once might bring hundreds of gay men over to your cause. That seems to be a net benefit.

Christians giving sermons talk endlessly about the manifestation of the Holy Spirit. Christians arguing with Mormons downplay the importance of the Holy Ghost in a way that is borderline blasphemous. But, here’s the truth… Evangelicals can claim sola scriptura all they want… Catholics can cite their centuries old traditions all they want… And Latter-day Saints can cite modern prophetic revelation all they want… But, in the end, the appeal to authority cannot be validated without the confirmation of the Holy Ghost. And, the word of God- whether in canonized scripture or from a living oracle- cannot be received without the whispering of the Holy Ghost. That thing you downplay as “feelings” is actually divine revelation. And in the end, everything comes back to that.
Romans724@Romans724120566

@joshnaa2gez Not only do you not believe in sola scriptura you don't believe in the infallibility or final authority of any book in existence. You have no foundation other than your feelings and the current winds of humanism influence on your church's theology.

@ThoughtfulSaint Look up Xeno's Paradox. Philosophers once convinced themselves that it was impossible to walk across a room by adopting a false premise. LDS rejects Trinity, then rejects how the Trinity works, then rejects the Bible & God of the Bible. because it doesn't meet their expectation.

@CwC_16 @ThoughtfulSaint We do. Jesus was a god as a spirit before he was born in the flesh. This is prob a stupid semantic argument backlash. Usually starts when people misinterpret our view in the worst possible way, use that to make assumptions, and proclaim us heretics by said assumptions.

@dttpeople @LoganMPierce1 nice attempt at interpreting scripture, but Joseph Smith did it better. Probably because he had revelation, you know, like a real prophet.

1st heaven in the bible simply means sky: "And God said, Let the waters bring forth abundantly the moving creature that hath life, and fowl that may fly above the earth in the open firmament of heaven." Gen 1:20 Are birds flying in actual heaven? No. 2nd heaven is beyond that in outer space. Sun, moon ect: "Let there be lights in the firmament of the heaven to divide the day from the night" Gen 1:14 3rd heaven is what Paul was talking about. It's the only actual "heaven", as in heaven vs hell.

If Mormons just said these things up front. I wouldn't agree, but at least I'd respect the forthrightness. Instead Mormons play word games. If they are simply ashamed of these beliefs, why believe them! Either be proud and upfront or abandon shameful beliefs.
