@mibpj2 @tombob_13 @minakimes Media likes his personality and the playoff run(where he wasn't even that good) inflated his reputation. He's going to need to miss the playoffs/have a few bad playoff exits for perception to get pegged closer to realitt

@Playlikeajet1 Lots of analysts have said mendoza would go in penix, mccarthy range in 24. What's absurd about the take

The people that are on this app trying to compare Fernando Mendoza to JJ McCarthy as a prospect realize we all have eyes & memories that extend beyond 10 minutes, right? lol

@thornbill9 @AnthonyIrwinLA He knifed hinkie back in the day. It's mainly about the brand. Tanking in silence, the league probably doesnt care about. But when you start doing what utah did and what hinkie did with, a reaction is to be expected

@AnthonyIrwinLA No but I do think it’s a real problem even if not the main one. Half the league wasn’t trying to win games this year and that’s simply too high a percentage of inventory He’s just shown he could care less about average fans it’s only about the money

Would Adam Silver care about tanking if the NBA hadn’t linked itself to gambling the way it has?

@JoshEberley You have coaches, two months before the season ends, benching their star players in the 4th to lose yet people think the status quo is somehow acceptable

The reaction I've seen to NBA's tanking proposals hasn't been positive. Personally I think the proposal with the flattened lottery odds would be a substantial improvement from the current system.

@AmericanNumbers Yet we saw a similar team last year in the pistons push the knicks to the limit. I wouldn't be surprised if the hornets upset the pistons. The pistons are fun but kind of a paper tiger imo.

I've played the same amount of minutes in the NBA playoffs that the Hornets top 8 in minutes for the season players have. First time playoff coach too. They won't get a favorable whistle all series.
Henry Williams@HenryWilliams74

@AmericanNumbers On a neutral court, who are they not favored over in a seven game series? They just destroyed the Knicks, and the Raptors and Cavs are nothing special. Their biggest disadvantage is that they’ll be on the road for every playoff series.

@SamQuinnCBS Every prospect isnt Cooper flagg. What if the number in one pick in a year is zion who doesn't pan out to injuries or an Andrew Wiggins or a very good all star but not a game changer like John wall?

I don’t know if the Jazz would’ve tanked this year if they’d gotten Cooper Flagg. By making tanking less valuable the NBA incentivized the Jazz to do it longer. The goal is to make bad teams better as quickly as possible not moralize over the reasons why they’re bad.
Benjamin Smith@Benjiman31

So true. If teams who don't have talent get talent then they'll stop being bottom dwellers sooner. Opening it up for more teams to qualify for the top pick potentially extends bottom dwelling behavior. It's terrible.

@MZavagno11 If they incentivize building from the middle, then the bad teams get spend to in fa to get into the middle and actually have hope of turning it around from purgatory. Bad teams aren't just destined to be bad in perpetuity without lottery luck.

Giving good teams a chance to get the best players in the draft buries the bad teams. I don’t know why this is so hard
Jake Fischer@JakeLFischer

@TheSteinLine In addition to flattening of the lottery odds and expanding the lottery to 18 teams, the NPBA is proposing odds for the league's bottom 10 teams should be set at 7%, instead of 8%, and the remaining eight should be at a 3.75% of landing the No. 1 pick.

@DOC323123 @SpecialPuppy1 they're probably a 43 win team without KD. No KD plus no fvt plus no adams is an average team, assuming sengun stays the same.

@SpecialPuppy1 Maybe. I think wins and losses maybe it washes out 2-3 games either way but I think the org feels more stable and there’s not a sense of urgency that they will have going into the offseason

Again, I remind y'all: The Hornets have been a top 10 team in the league for a while now, even their record doesn't fully reflect that yet It sucks for the team that draws that matchup in the 1st round

1. Keeping Rodgers meant 3 yrs/$87 mil of dead cap. Plus keeping Adams & pushing more $ into the future for him. & alienating #Jets best player (Wilson). All to win 5 GMs again? 2. They needed a bridge & Fields was the only one with upside. Worth the swing, just didn’t work out.

@Playlikeajet1 Or you can admit that 1 year of Rodgers was better than 2 of figuring it out. Glenn was flexing and had no muscle

@FantasyKash He doesn't have personnel control and isn't making the decisions. Most of this offseason has been driven by glenn(almost all of their additions with the exception of qb have been to the defense for instance)

Yeah I see no indication that the Jets would can Mougey after this year Clearly building towards taking a 2027 QB
WayofDade@WayofDade

@FantasyKash He was hired by glenn though. Woody johnson called him Glenn's sidekick at their presser. Glenn has an insane contract which is one of the reasons he wasn't canned(even though he should have been ) lol

@diatroptoff94 @ChuckFBass If anything he's probably too aggressive! I'm surprised the discourse is still here. It's changing a bit after this season. Maybe if he has a great season this year and stays healthy it'll change more

@diatroptoff94 @ChuckFBass That's right. His profile has changed. He's a really good play extender and has increased his scrambling. So stylistically he doesn't even play the same way he did in 23 where he was viewed as a game manager type

I like Brock Purdy, but you don't spend a 1st round pick on Brock Purdy. That's the whole point of Brock Purdy.

@diatroptoff94 @ChuckFBass I think saying that the context has elevated his stats and that he probably isn't as good as his numbers is fine(and probably true). The thing is the baseline is so high that even attributing a large chunk to shanahan, still leaves you at statistically with a quality qb

@WayofDade @ChuckFBass height x shanahan system x average + arm strength = trepidation on an opinion. But I think the biggest thing is the shanahan bump, I mean look at Sam Darnold before and after his stint in SF. Thing is, Brock Purdy does WAY more outside of...

@twain_w @49ers_Access @ChuckFBass A 0.06 epa gap is reasonably huge over the course of a full season. The colts were more stacked and Daniel Jones WAS legitimately playing at an elite level to start the year
