@peterjbirks But of course this is all nonsense, TM almost never reduce prices for any show (saw a flash sale for KISS, once), it's all about opportunistic price gouging of innocent fans who were given the expectation of £74 tickets, and would have accepted if they just 'sold out'.

@peterjbirks This does not explain why it was possible for people at the front of the queue to purchase tickets at original face value - surely TM had info to prove significant demand at the outset and so to be a 'valid economic function' should have set higher price immediately?

1/3 Representative of Grant Thornton on Money section of R4 Today at 6.15 did not supply the anticipated "outraged" response re Oasis concerts, somewhat to the discomfiture of the R4 presenter.

BREAKING: The Department of Justice has officially filed an antitrust lawsuit against Live Nation and will seek to break up Live Nation and Ticketmaster. “We allege that Live Nation relies on unlawful, anticompetitive conduct to exercise its monopolistic control over the live events industry in the United States at the cost of fans, artists, smaller promoters, and venue operators,” U.S. Attorney General Merrick Garland said in a statement. “The result is that fans pay more in fees, artists have fewer opportunities to play concerts, smaller promoters get squeezed out, and venues have fewer real choices for ticketing services. It is time to break up Live Nation-Ticketmaster.”

For non-UK audiences, this is the Conservative Prime Minister calling a British general election in the rain, while being drowned out by a 90s pop song best-known for use in Labour’s 1997 election-winning campaign, which is the last time a Tory government was defeated by Labour.

King Charles has already granted dissolution of parliament and a general election on 4 July, says PM. Sunak announced without umbrella in pouring rain and with blare of blaster in background. Inauspicious

@SaveOasis @Sciprios No, and a odd claim to make as well. Im not sure what part Andrew is referring to exactly but It’s asking for what we and residents want. We have been listening to all the views and evidenced provided by residents and experts and used that to put together the motion.

Save Oasis Swindon 🏊‍♂️ - Pool, Slides & Hall
How we predict this week will go: Labour will stick to guns and not push 7C to include a Hall at Oasis. @DanielCllr will push forward a motion, which hopefully gets passed, to include one. This Sunday, protest will go ahead as will fierce objections from Sport England, SOS and residents.

@paul_winginit Is it not basically a tax on families, people with disabilities and those priced out of areas with good public transport networks? Most affordable flights also departing early morning/late evening when public transport is less reliable?

@danbarker @richardpbacon This is Vine videoing himself at that Springsteen concert without the baseball cap and with one of those really annoying video sticks that gets in the way of people behind having a clear view…

@richardpbacon With hindsight: this is easy for you to say, Richard, but you didn't have to wear a baseball hat to see Bruce Springsteen.

Stop it. You’re more emotionally intelligent than this. We don’t know the complexities of what his family are going through. Or what dark thoughts are running through his head. Irrespective of what he’s done wrong. You can walk off people wrongly guessing it’s you for 5 minutes.

I’m starting to think the BBC Presenter involved in the scandal should now come forward publicly. These new allegations will result in yet more vitriol being thrown at perfectly innocent colleagues of his. And the BBC, which I’m sure he loves, is on its knees with this. But it is his decision and his alone.

@iancarterIM Swindon Link under him has been way more guilty of press release journalism than the Adver, an under-pressure, under-resourced daily.

It would be nice if some of these new titles could launch without throwing insults at existing publishers. Lots of the usual stuff about clickbait and listicles here on what would otherwise be an interesting read. holdthefrontpage.co.uk/2023/news/new-…

The name of this BBC ‘presenter’ will be in the public domain soon I expect. Just don’t understand why it is not already, given that the BBC sent a helicopter to film Cliff Richard and name him publicly. Why are they not naming this employee?
