Alon Mizrahi is an Arab-Jewish writer who left Israel over genocide in Gaza. According to Alon, Israel’s political elite & society are so infused with hatred of Arabs and have enjoyed impunity for so long that region cannot achieve a lasting just peace unless Israel is dismantled

Israel targeted and killed a water engineer and two drivers who were transporting clean water to families in Gaza whose homes Israel destroyed in the genocide. Israel has been systematically targeting Palestinians who are working to provide clean water to Gaza. theguardian.com/world/2026/apr…

From November 2024 there was a ceasefite in Lebanon which Israel violated 15,400 times according to the UN. I witnessed 4 months of Israeli violations personally. When Hezbollah finally fired back, the entire western media reported they "initiated" the current war. Now Israel has violated the new ceasefire over a thousand times in a fortnight. Yet today the Guardian reports that Israel is issuing new evacuation orders "in response to Hezbollah ceasefire violations".

Could YOU afford Private Healthcare for all your family? Nigel Farage thinks you can and he'd pocket a chunk of the profits. If you’re fortunate enough to have your Grandparents, Parents and Children with you, how healthy are they? If they (and you) became seriously ill and you ended up having to pay for their care, (e.g had to pay for every single NHS service) could you and your family afford it? Nigel Farage argues that the current NHS (tax-funded) model isn't delivering proper value despite massive spending increases, and that the UK needs to shift to an insurance-based healthcare system (run via private insurance companies). “I think we’re going to have to think about healthcare very, very differently. I think we are going to have to move to an insurance-based system of healthcare” Nigel Farage Credible non-partisan sources (IPPR, King’s Fund, Oxford, OECD-linked reports) back the claim that a full shift to a US-style insurance model would mean patients paying far more out-of-pocket for GP visits, operations, scans, prescriptions, etc., compared to Scotland’s current free-at-point-of-use NHS. For a comparison, here are typical US costs extrapolated for the UK. UK private self-pay costs (2025–2026 data, proxy for US-style insurance billed prices): GP visit (15-min): £70–£150 Hip replacement: £12,500–£16,000 (avg ~£14,400) Knee replacement: £11,500–£16,000 (avg ~£15,000) Broken bone/fracture repair: £2,000–£10,000+ (varies by surgery/cast) Ambulance (private transfer): £250–£1,000+ Eye operations (cataract surgery is the most common NHS eye procedure): Cataract surgery (per eye): £2,000–£4,500 standard monofocal lens; £3,500–£5,500+ for premium/multifocal/toric lenses (avg ~£2,500–£3,500). Laser eye surgery (e.g. LASIK/LASEK): £1,250–£3,000 per eye. Prescriptions per item: NHS charge (England): £9.90 per item (frozen for 2025/26; free in Scotland/Wales/NI or for exempt groups). Private/self-pay: Full medicine cost + pharmacy dispensing fee (£5–£15 typical). Common generics (antibiotics, statins, blood pressure tablets, hayfever meds etc.) usually £5–£40 per course or monthly supply; branded/specialist drugs £50–thousands. The terrifying fact is that if the UK adopted the US model, thousands of people in the UK would be unable to pay for healthcare, and their final days would be unimaginably painful for both them and their loved ones. The Scottish NHS is under constant threat from Unionist (English) political parties to follow Nigel Farage’s ‘Trump’ inspired private healthcare model. Labour although claiming they will protect the NHS are raking in huge amount of large donors money from private healthcare companies, and these donors will want big favours and promises in shady deals in return, just like Farage. Vote SNP1&2 (or Scottish Greens 2 depending on your constituency) on May 7th to ensure we keep our Scottish NHS intact. #CitizenJournalists @MaureenFairgri1 #Allscots #YESScots @NHSforYES @danielgoyal

Keir Starmer has been abusing Jeremy Corbyn in the Commons’ workplace for over five years. Corbyn has had to endure Starmer’s taunts, insults, degradation and dehumanising comments and all enabled by @LindsayHoyle_MP. Starmer wouldn’t get away with this degree of bullying in any other workplace in the land but in the Commons, behind the fake codes of conduct, it’s par for the course. Even now, Starmer can’t bring himself to address Corbyn with the basic courtesies of address but refers to him as, well, “him.” Starmer is, when his layers of fake respectability are stripped away, just a posh bully-boy. A man who has idolised Mandelson but wouldn’t acknowledge Corbyn if he saw him walk by on the other side of the street. Why your union entertained such a fraudulent bad faith actor today, I’ll never understand. @UKLabour #LocalElections2026 @Keir_Starmer #StarmerOut

The government has spent the past two years turning a blind eye to war crimes in Gaza. Now, the Foreign Office unit that tracks Israeli breaches of international law has closed altogether. This is the last stage of British complicity: pretend it never happened at all.

Subsidising meals in the House of Commons for MPs and parliamentary pass holders is thought to cost the UK taxpayer up to £7 million a year. Despite an ongoing cost of living crisis, we are paying for our MPs to scoff on fine dining. standard.co.uk/news/politics/…

Al Jazeera has documented the reality of the Gaza 'ceasefire.' Israel has violated the ceasefire more than 2,400 times, killing 811 people and injuring 2,278. Food aid is at only 37% of the minimum 600 trucks per day agreed in the ceasefire. Fuel is at 14% of requirements. Unemployment has reached 78%. The EU and UN estimate that Israel's attacks have set Gaza's development back by 77 years. Recovery will cost more than $71 billion A ceasefire in name only, while the reality on the ground tells a different story

UNHCR, the UN Refugee Agency
Humanitarians and the life-saving aid they distribute are not a target. A UNHCR truck carrying emergency shelter kits was hit by a drone in North Darfur, Sudan. It was on its way to Tawila, where hundreds of thousands of people have fled for safety. The driver survived. The supplies did not. More than 1,300 families are now left without the shelter they urgently needed. Attacks like this are unacceptable. They put lives at risk and deepen an already devastating crisis. Civilians must be protected. Humanitarian workers must be protected.

Makeshift camps sheltering displaced Sudanese families in Chad are experiencing a dual outbreak of measles and meningitis caused by overcrowding, weak sanitation and lack of medical care. In Adré, a town in eastern Chad on the border with Sudan, 12% of the 212 children with meningitis seen by Medicins Sans Frontiere (MSF) between March and April did not recover. Both measles and meningitis are rife in war-torn Sudan, where the ongoing civil war between the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) and Rapid Support Forces (RSF) has decimated the healthcare system. More than 12 million people have fled the country since the start of the war in April 2023, with 1.3 million Sudanese people now in neighbouring Chad. In Sudan itself, drone attacks have increased by 70% since 2024, with more than 500 civilians killed in the first three months of 2026 alone. Health staff have taken to building makeshift operating rooms underground to shelter patients from airborne attacks. Ibrahim Khatir, a paediatric doctor and former director general of North Darfur's Ministry of Health, told Think Global Health that he regularly operated on injured patients in shipping containers covered with sandbags and stone. To minimise the risk of drone attacks, he conducted operations under the light of a hand-held mobile phone until he was forced to flee to another city in October 2025. In Khartoum, Sudan’s capital, 87% of health facilities are non-operational. Country-wide, 70% of hospitals have been destroyed. According to the International Rescue Committee, Sudan is the world’s largest humanitarian and fastest-growing displacement crisis, with 34 million people needing aid.
