Gulf Coast friends – there will be a LOT of talk about Melissa in the coming week, and rightfully so... it will be a big deal in the Caribbean. But stateside, we're not expecting impacts. Two things should spare us Melissa's impact: SHEAR, or disruptive changing winds with height, will form a wall of sorts across the Gulf. That would tear Melissa apart before it could ever charge northwards towards us. FRONTS, or cold fronts crashing out of the northwest, will also shunt Melissa away from the mainland United States or Gulf Coast. A high pressure forcefield may build in as well, further helping deflect the system from the southern U.S.

@united what is the process for changing flights when a hurricane is expected at destination? News is saying Jamaica may get a major hurricane. You’re only allowing me to fly there early & not change my destination. Why would I want to fly to an island during a major hurricane?

@FabFitFun Will you help? Because I got the same message on Instagram that was left on read. No one is helping, that’s the problem. The person I dealt with over a week ago said they were sending a replacement and issuing credits and never did.
