@jenteach13 You’re potentially saving this kid from learning these life lessons too far down the line, so you certainly have good intentions. Many don’t want to do this because they feel it may reflect poorly on them in the eyes of admin, so you’re also brave.

@gabagooooool Now you sound like my husband ;) Yes, I realize that learning Spanish isn't critical, but in California, students need to pass 2 years of a language to graduate.

I teach Spanish. One of my 8th graders cannot read. She doesn't know the sounds letters make. She doesn't know what a noun is. Every adult who had her for the last eight years passed her anyway because she was sweet, and the conversation was hard. I asked to move her to a reading intervention class. The counselor said no. The reason given: she likes me. So I taught her what I could, and at the end of the year, she had earned an F. In Spanish, you need a C- for high school credit and a D- to walk at promotion. She got neither. I was the only teacher who gave her an F. I checked. Administration said they'd back me if I called home, so I called. Her mom told me her daughter was a good student. Nobody had ever told her otherwise. Not once in nine years. I told her the truth. We have been calling it kindness for years, passing kids like her along, smiling, moving on. It wasn't kindness. It was the easy thing to do. Someone had to stop it. So I did. Link in comments.

@BasedRedWolf Districts don’t want to pay the money. At least 60k per kid to send him out of district

I have seen many severely disabled special education students who may be better served in specialized private programs. Some have injured drivers and school staff through biting and hitting. There is a real discussion to be had about placement options. I do not mind paying as a taxpayer if the cost matches current per student funding. This opinion mainly applies to districts above 15,000 students.

Things #Teachers don’t talk about: How some spend our summers trying to get the attention of complete strangers & celebrities on social media to help us buy school supplies for our students that our districts do not provide, otherwise we purchase them. We call it #clearthelist.

@damiankelleher It’s not a flex to stay an hour after the kids leave or work all weekend. Only people who are doing this are new teachers. Majority of us work to live we don’t live to work

Classic case of telling on yourself. Jason was obviously a bad teacher if he stopped working at 3. I’m sure every other teacher at his school resented his laziness
Jason Helmes@anymanfitness

I was a teacher for 12 years, and I hate this sort of rhetoric. A teacher's day is done by 3 pm. They never work a night or weekend unless they want to. Only 180 work days per year, they're off 1/2 the time. It's paid appropriately, but no teachers want to hear that.

Today I realized why I am so annoyed with my job. It’s because I care and have morals. Most people in education don’t care and have no morals. Thats the honest truth.

Victor Wembanyama (@wemby) admitted in French last night that his Islamic outfit at the game was in honor of Eid. Abdul Carter (@1NCRDB1) praised Wembanyama’s outfit, posting: “Yeah gimme Spurs in 7.” After Carter attacked Jackson Dart (@JaxsonDart) for introducing President Trump, I shared video of Carter dressed almost identically at the NFL draft. It’s astonishing how elected Democrats and the mainstream media celebrate Islam being shoved down America’s throat while simultaneously launching vicious attacks on Jackson Dart for introducing President Trump. Something is very wrong here.

During the NFL draft, Abdul Carter (@1NCRDB1) wore an Islamic political chain while his family showed up in full burqas. Funny how Abdul loves shoving his religion and politics down America’s throat but melts down when his teammate Jackson Dart (@JaxsonDart) attends a Trump rally. The left are such hypocrites.

@wil_da_beast630 I too had a cannon and I’m sitting here sipping a beer after mowing the lawn and working all day. Travel ball, D1, pro ball… doesn’t matter unless you’re the top 0.001%.. Enjoy your time with your friends playing.. don’t take yourself too serious

"Age 5: he's got a cannon" is objectively nuts. I'm really glad I missed youth sport culture.
Jacob Turner@TheJacobTurner

A PARENT’S JOURNEY THROUGH YOUTH SPORTS: Age 5: “He’s got a cannon.” Age 6: “He’s the fastest kid out there. Coach said so.” Age 7: “Rec ball isn’t challenging him anymore.” Age 8: “We tried out for select. Obviously made it.” Age 9: “$2,800 for the season. Plus uniforms. Plus tournaments. Plus hotels.” Age 10: “Cooperstown is basically a family vacation, right?” Age 11: “He needs a hitting guy. And a pitching guy. And probably a mental performance coach.” Age 12: “I’m not a crazy sports parent. The OTHER parents are crazy.” Age 13: “We changed schools. For academics. (And also baseball.)” Age 14: “Showcases are a requirement at this age.” Age 15: “Ya his ranking just ticked up. We’re cooking.” Age 16: “He just needs to get seen by the right school.” Age 17: “The D1 schools want him to walk on. He’ll earn a spot by sophomore year.” Age 18: “Okay, D2 is actually really competitive.” Age 19: “He’s redshirting. Strategic.” Age 20: “He’s focusing on school now.” Age 21: “You know what? He’s so much happier.” Roughly 7% of high schoolers play in college. About 1.5% of those get drafted. Less than half of draftees ever play one day in the big leagues. The odds of our kids going pro are somewhere between “struck by lightning” and “find a $100 in old shorts.” I love youth sports (all my kids play a bunch of them) just keep a good perspective my friends. ✌️

I know people worth tens of thousands of dollars who don’t use a bidet. They spend time after pooping taking their hand and using paper to smear shit around their body. Make it make sense.

@CoachSwit Only way to keep your fitness levels up in a sport that requires little to no exertion for majority of the positions on the field. As a former player, you weren’t getting my teammates and I to run sprints after the game though lol.

I still don’t understand why some high school baseball teams run sprints after games. Must be a good reason… I just haven’t heard one yet. Thoughts?
