BREAKING: Microsoft just announced several major changes to Windows 11 in an effort to win back user trust and evolve the platform into something people will actually want to use over macOS and Linux! It's a huge announcement that addresses Windows 11's biggest problems today, tackling core fundamental issues such as unreliable system performance, UX consistency, AI bloat and general enshittification. Microsoft has confirmed that this year, it WILL be reducing where ads and Copilot appear throughout the system, including in Start, Widgets, Notepad, Photos, and more! File Explorer and Windows Search will be upgraded with improved performance and capabilities that make finding apps and files much faster and easier. The OS will become lighter with less RAM and system utilization at idle, making it smoother to run on low end hardware with limited memory. These improvements will also benefit high-end PCs too. Windows Update will be improved with more granular controls and the ability to postpone updates for longer, along with reducing how often the OS needs to restart to install an update. Microsoft has also confirmed that it's bringing back fan favourite features such as the ability to move the Taskbar! It's also working to update more areas of the system shell with modern WinUI designs, which should make Windows 11 feel more coherent and complete. There's much more in the announcement, and it honestly all sounds too good to be true. Microsoft really is listening to feedback, and is eager to make Windows the BEST desktop OS on the market. More details including when these changes will arrive in the link! windowscentral.com/microsoft/wind…

Why are Android status bars so cluttered and ugly? iOS, in comparison, looks so neat and aesthetic

@AmazonHelp Seems like Alexa does not support a sentence to start a playlist on spotify. I guess "Artist and genre stations" is the one used.. because indeed instead of my playlist and artists, it creates a weird radio with songs I don't want to listen to. Connection to @spotify is ok...

Hello there! We're sorry to hear that your playlists aren't playing as you want. Alexa can play music from other streaming services. You can set the default preference for your Alexa account. To see available services, go to the Alexa app. You can learn how to link your account with a supported music streaming provider in the Alexa app here: amzn.to/3ZcCWlQ. If you're still experiencing the issue, let us know. -Issy

Small example to drive home the point: Here's Microsoft Paint first launch, no interaction, with Feature_GettingStarted_Experiment2_GetVariant forced to 3.

Friendly reminder: definitive statements about Windows and its apps should be made cautiously, as A/B testing, server-side configuration, and frequent updates mean behavior could vary significantly across multiple machines.
Zac Bowden@zacbowden

I get that it's popular to hate on Windows 11 right now, but this complaint is in bad faith. This sign-in UI does not pop up on its own. Paint does not require sign-in to be used. You have to click on the tiny user profile icon in the top right corner of the app for this to show.

@WindowsCentral but that will be limited to Snapdragon X2.... which is not available on Microsoft's devices... Why is everything wrong about Windows? Still.. millions of computers can't install Windows 8.1, Windows 10 and/or Windows 11...

Microsoft has confirmed plans to make "behind-the-scenes platform changes" on Windows 11 this year. The company is now testing the next phase of Windows 11, as it releases the first 26300 series build to Insiders in the Dev Channel. Microsoft says these preview builds will likely come with new known issues during the testing phase. Build number jumps usually take place when Microsoft is preparing to shape the next version of Windows 11. In this case, 26300 could end up shipping this fall as version 26H2.

Windows 11 Start menu’s new Category view can be a mess, as you cannot customize anything about it. Most of your installed apps can land in “Other." The new default Category view automatically groups your apps by category for quick access to your most used categories and apps. So, if your most used apps are Outlook and Solitaire, you can expect those apps to bubble up to the top in their respective categories. Categories are formed when there are at least 3 apps in each respective category. Otherwise, they will remain in the “Other” category. Microsoft says it’s listening to feedback

@hiarun02 It is Lenovo... worst softwares possible... not a reference of using Windows. If you really want to use Windows, you have to go to "clean Windows" device (like Surface) not shitty branded laptops..
