Switzerland is a small country with only 9 million people, yet it has 3 universities among the top 20 worldwide. In other words, Switzerland produces more high-quality scientific output (papers/breakthroughs published in Nature, Science, Cell, etc.) than the whole of Africa and Southeast Asia combined (2.2 billion people). Mind blowing. The gap between the so called First World and the developing world is enormous. I believe AI will help close this gap within a decade or so (during 2030s or around 2040). The 2030s might be the first time in history where access to intelligence, not just capital becomes the main driver of progress. And intelligence, for the first time, is becoming scalable.

@KarlPfleger It does need to be looked at, + Q by itself is widely used, - but rec. there was one negative onco paper, out of 10+ positive ones...

The recent study showing D+Q causes demyelination in brain cells leads to more questions than it answers: (I only read the abstract cause paper new & paywalled.) D+Q has been used a lot in mice & humans. Why hasn't this been noticed before? Are there some obvious clinical tests that can be used on people in the D+Q clinical trials? D+Q extended lifespans in a mouse study: did they do any cognitive tests on those mice? Are only some oligodendrocytes affected? What's different about the ones affected? Are there actual senescent cells involved in this somewhere? Abstract says they did in vivo rat oligodendrocyte, so clearly someone needs to check human ones. Most obviously, which categories of senolytics also exhibit this behavior, even in the same mouse/rat contexts used here? (There are probably several companies that have some positive preclinical data on their senolytics in neuro conditions without it causing them to abandon the line of work.) [I'm assuming dose here was same as or similar to dose used in prior D+Q studies (such as the one that extended lifespan). It's well known that D+Q has a pretty narrow dose range for efficacy without bad side effects. Amit Sharma has been noting this in his talks for several months at least.]

All of us have had bad stuff happen to us but many are able to carry on living their lives in a dignified way
