@DawnButlerBrent And yet you are part of a Labour government that is helping to commit genocide and arresting those who protest it. Your reputation is ruined.

@diffanalysis Great thread. Interesting to see the moneyball approach and the names it comes up with.

@Isaac_Herzog If antisemitism is on the rise, can you think of a reason why that might be the case?
English

On Israel's Holocaust Remembrance Day, we remember the six million Jews systematically murdered by the Nazis during the Holocaust.
81 years later, the world has not fully learned the lessons of the darkest chapter in human history.
The same violent antisemitism and Jew hatred that fueled the Holocaust is once again on the rise.
I call upon all world leaders: empty words will not cover up inaction. This is the time for courageous action. You must fight antisemitism with all means and in every place, before it is too late.
English

@Keir_Starmer You fucking hypocrite. How dare you say 'never again' while participating in a genocide right now and arresting people who protest that. You are a disgusting individual.
English

On Yom HaShoah, we remember the six million Jews who were killed, and we acknowledge the deep grief and anguish that remembrance brings for Jewish communities today.
I know this comes at a time of profound anxiety. Conflicts overseas, pressures at home, and uncertainty about the future weigh heavily โ compounded by a troubling rise in antisemitic attacks and terrorist plots targeting Jewish communities across the country.
My government will always act decisively to protect Jewish communities and to stamp out antisemitism wherever it appears. We will not hesitate, and we will not look away.
Remembrance must come with responsibility โ to honour the past, to protect the present, and to ensure that โnever againโ is not just a promise, but a duty we uphold.
English

@DavidLammy @JDVance Get fucked, Lammy. You genocide-enabler.
English

Great to catch up with my friend @JDVance today in DC following his talks in Pakistan.
It is vital that the ceasefire continues and we get shipping flowing freely again through the Straits of Hormuz.
We continue to work together towards a just and lasting peace in Ukraine.

English

@herdirtytoes Starmer is helping to commit genocide and arresting those who protest it. Anyone willing to overlook that needs to have a good sit down and think about what that means.

@TheCinesthetic I mean, I was going to say that surely everyone gets this...but then I read the comments, so you have a point.
English

Grease (1978) was written as a parody of those โ50s teen romances where the โgood girl fixes the bad boy,โ and it plays the whole thing so straight that most people never even clock it as satire.
cinesthetic.@TheCinesthetic
What is a parody that was done so well that most people to this day don't realize it was a parody?
English

@laetissima918 @RachelXReads I think it's very clear that you know fuck all about books.
English

Personally, I am sick of people wanting everything to be cheaper, free, a human right, etc etc.
When we make everything cheap, nothing has value. Not the quality, nor the labor, nor the ingenuity in its invention.
It used to be that books were a luxury item. You have one as a status symbol. It is passed down. It is cherished. Like a piece of jewelry or art.
Now people treat books like junk food. And the quality of books out there reflect it. There are very, very few works of literature past the nineteenth century remotely worth knowing precisely due to the fact that literariness itself is no longer valued.
English

My husband wrote a book that sells close to 250 copies a year, and it sells more every year. He gets less than a dollar per book. Writers don't write for money. They write because they believe in what they put on the page. Buying a book is one small way you can show appreciation for the effort it takes to create something they hope will make your life just a little bit better.

Even for someone who's seen wild soccer atmospheresโฆ this one was on another level.
Matt Damon described going to a Boca Juniors match in Argentina with his wifeโs family.
He asked if they could bring the kids. Her uncle got dead serious: โWe can goโฆ but no women, no children.โ
They passed three police barricades with temporary barbed-wire fencing and riot police everywhere. The best seats were left empty โ because that was the safe throwing distance between rival fans.
After the game, they were held in temporary cages for 45 minutes just so the opposing supporters could clear the neighborhood safely.
Matt called it the craziest sporting event heโs ever witnessed.
Whatโs the wildest sports atmosphere youโve ever experienced?
