Left headphones in a shop. Went back 5 minutes later. Gone. Shop got cctv footage of someone taking them. They remember serving the person - who used their bank card - 2 mins later. Police got footage, witness and description yet are saying there’s nothing they can do. Useless.

The @dailytarheel, which is editorially and financially independent from the university, published satirical April Fool’s articles with headlines like “Trump Orders Alcohol Law Enforcement in Chapel Hill Replaced with ICE Agents” and “UNC Brings Back DEI-For Whites.” After calls for takedowns from student groups and the student body president, the paper took the articles down and its editor-in-chief apologized. Hill After Hours, a separate registered student group, also posted and deleted a TikTok sketch satirizing a stereotypical white student walking through an area of campus where predominantly students of color have historically lived. In response, Senior Vice Provost James Orr issued a university statement condemning the satirical content and announced the university was investigating Hill After Hours. That is not the role of a public university. Students and student journalists do not lose their First Amendment rights because their speech is offensive, unpopular, or badly received. Critics are free to answer with more speech. UNC is not free to answer it with condemnation and investigation. UNC-Chapel Hill’s response also raises serious concerns under North Carolina law, which requires UNC System institutions to remain neutral on “the political controversies of the day.” A university cannot claim neutrality while taking an official side against protected student expression. UNC-Chapel Hill must retract its statement and end the investigation. Offense is not license to police protected expression.

NEW: Disgruntled employee starts massive fire at a 1.2 million square foot warehouse in Ontario, California. 29-year-old Chamel Abdulkarim was arrested on arson charges for setting a Kimberly-Clark warehouse on fire. Abdulkarim apparently filmed himself on Instagram setting toilet paper packages in the warehouse on fire. "You may not pay us enough to f*cking live, but these b*tches dirt cheap... There goes your inventory," Abdulkarim apparently said. "All you had to do is pay us enough to live. All you had to do was pay us enough to f*cking live." The warehouse is the size of 11 city blocks. In total, 175 firefighters and 20 engines were on the scene trying to put the fire out. No one was injured.

Lots of men visiting Colombia are getting drugged, robbed, even killed by their Tinder dates. So here is my story. We had been on a couple dates, and she came over to watch a movie. She didn't seem at all like the type to drug/rob. Whenever I see them in the news stories, I kind of feel like it was obvious: lots of make-up, exaggerated plastic surgery. Clearly materialistic. Shortly after she arrives, she tells me to cover my eyes and open my mouth. Immediately I'm very nervous, and she's acting confused. Like of course I'm not going to let you feed me some random thing, strange woman. I demand to know what she wants to give me, and she reluctantly pulls out a piece of cake with custard on top, in a plastic container. She explains that her family owns a little convenience shop and she brought it from there to surprise me. I probably have to use Google Translate like five times because my Spanish is shit. I ask myself whether this cake could be laced with scopolamine, and of course it could! So what do I do? I agree to take a bite. I decide to eat just a little off the spoon. I tell myself if I feel the least bit woozy I will kick her out immediately. So I take my half-assed bite. Then… …nothing. She just wanted to surprise me with a treat. We've been married seven years.

My wife had a months-long affair with someone from work. I found out by accident, not through honesty. Yesterday I decided not to forgive her. I asked for a divorce without negotiation. Her family says I should try, that “we all make mistakes.” What they don't say is that some mistakes are repeated for months with full awareness. I'm not going to rebuild something that was broken by long-standing decisions. Love also has dignity.
