@MarioNawfal The U.S. fumbled this situation so badly. Prices will not drop magically because it will take several months to resolve global supply imbalances with crude and refined products.

🇺🇸🇮🇷 A Fed official is warning the Iran war could force interest rate hikes. Minneapolis Fed President Neel Kashkari says a prolonged Strait of Hormuz disruption could trigger a major price shock and force aggressive rate hikes. @MarioNawfal But, Mario, you already said the war was over 100 times two weeks ago? How could you get it so wrong?

🚨🇺🇸🇮🇷 The simplest path out of this war is the one nobody in Washington wants to say out loud: just leave. Scott Horton says Trump could quit right now, call it whatever he wants, fly home, and the entire burden shifts to Iran to figure out how they get along with the rest of Eurasia. America has no real stake in Middle East empire. No base, no ally, no regional position lost there actually affects the American people back home. "Fly home. Sail home. March home. That's it. Get the hell out of there." @ScottHortonShow

Tanker traffic around the Cape of Good Hope just hit a record high as shipping companies abandon any plans to return to the Suez Canal route while the Iran war drags on. The longer Africa route adds at least 2 weeks to Asia-Europe voyages and costs significantly more, but companies say customers are prioritizing supply chain stability over speed. Port arrivals across the 5 main Cape ports are up 21% since the first U.S.-Israel strikes on Iran on February 28, with one week in April hitting 71% above the pre-conflict average. 🇮🇷🇺🇸 Iran's FM Abbas Araghchi: The Pentagon is lying about the cost of the war. He says Netanyahu's gamble has directly cost the U.S. $100 billion so far, 4 times the official figure, with indirect costs adding up to a $500 monthly bill for every American household. "Israel First always means America Last."

US President Donald Trump vowed to maintain a naval blockade on Iran and was briefed by commanders on further military options, according to a report, underscoring the fragility of the ceasefire between the warring countries. Trump reiterated that the blockade of Iranian ports is depriving the Islamic Republic of much-needed oil revenue, claiming the pressure would force Tehran back to the negotiating table. “Good luck blockading a country with those borders,” Iran’s speaker of parliament, Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, said on X, referring to his country’s large size. He and other Iranian officials say the blockade, which they insist must be lifted for the sides to go to new talks and for the Strait of Hormuz to be reopened, will further push up oil prices. #oott bloomberg.com/news/articles/…

🇨🇦 When your realtor says buy housing, that’s sales. 🏡 When your mortgage broker says buy housing, that’s commission. 💵 When your bank says buy housing, that’s loan growth. 🏦 When the government says buy housing, that’s GDP support. 📉 And now economists are joining in too? That’s not conviction. That’s a coordinated rescue plan dressed up as “market optimism.” 🎭 If everyone from Bay Street to Ottawa is suddenly begging you to believe housing is a “long-term buy,” it usually means one thing: They need fresh buyers. More than buyers need homes. 🍁🏚️ @ronmortgageguy @StephenPunwasi @danielfoch @SteveSaretsky #Housing #Canada

UPDATE: THE WAR MAY NOT BE OVER I know I've been saying the opposite since early April, but recent developments are very concerning - Iran is not budging from their demands, not offering enough concessions for Trump to be able to walk away - Mojtaba's speech yesterday reinforces Iran's defiance, advocating for control of the Strait, regional dominance, and the removal of U.S. bases - Trump's rhetoric is not easing, and Iran is responding in kind, both trying to humiliate the other As I've said for a while, for Trump to walk away, he needs something to be able to declare victory. He's already given up on Iran's proxy network, their ballistic missile program, any hope for regime change, and may even accept an Iran that controls the Strait, but to not get any meaningful concessions on their nuclear program crosses a line where he views walking away as no longer feasible Iran needs to concede something, even if symbolic, to allow Trump an off-ramp while negotiations continue Trump’s strategy of economic warfare was a last ditch effort to get concessions, but it seems to be backfiring, and the global economy cannot sustain it for much longer As I’ve warned before the ceasefire: Trump made a mistake getting into this war, and I worry Iran makes a mistake dragging him back into it

🚨🇺🇸🇮🇷 CENTCOM Commander Brad Cooper just reportedly briefed Trump in the Situation Room on the potential "final blow" to Iran... Per Fox News, the briefing covered strikes on remaining Iranian military assets, leadership, and infrastructure. Three target categories that, taken together, describe regime change in everything but name. "Remaining military assets" means the 60% of IRGC Navy still operational, the half of missile launchers Iran reclaimed during the ceasefire, the two-thirds of air force still functional, and the underground facilities that survived Operation Epic Fury.

🚨🇺🇸🇮🇱 6,500 tons of U.S. weapons just landed in Israel in 24 hours... Two cargo ships docked at Ashdod and Haifa carrying air-launched and ground-launched munitions, military trucks, and Joint Light Tactical Vehicles. Multiple flights delivered additional equipment. The Israeli Ministry of Defense calls it a "large-scale logistics operation." The cumulative numbers since the war began on February 28th are staggering. Over 115,600 tons of American equipment has been delivered via 403 flights and 10 ships in roughly 60 days. That's an average of nearly 2,000 tons per day flowing from American depots into Israeli ports. This is the same period during which the New York Times reported the U.S. burned through 1,100 JASSM-ER missiles, 1,000 Tomahawks, and 1,200 Patriot interceptors. American munitions stockpiles aren't just being depleted by the U.S. military fighting Iran. They're being depleted by the U.S. military fighting Iran AND simultaneously rearming Israel for whatever comes next. The Pentagon is essentially running two wars worth of supply lines through one industrial base that wasn't built for either. For Iran, the message is clear. Even as the U.S. publicly debates whether to launch new strikes, Israel is being resupplied at war footing levels. Whatever decision Trump makes, Jerusalem is being prepared to keep fighting regardless. Source: Tabz, TOI

🇺🇸 🇮🇷 White House quietly considering seeking war authorization from Congress... A White House official tells the Washington Examiner the administration is in "active conversations" with Congress about potentially seeking authorization for the Iran war. This is a significant shift from Hegseth's Senate testimony where he claimed the administration doesn't need war powers approval because the 60-day clock paused with the ceasefire. The two positions can't both be true. Either the White House has the legal authority it needs unilaterally, or it's quietly preparing to ask Congress for the political cover it doesn't currently have. Both signals being broadcast suggests the administration is hedging. The timing matters. Trump just received his CENTCOM briefing on three military strike options including ground operations and a special forces uranium seizure. Five Senate war powers resolutions have already been rejected, but each vote got closer. If Trump is preparing to launch the kind of escalation CENTCOM presented today, he wants Congress on record either supporting it or being unable to stop it. Seeking formal authorization also gives Trump political insulation. If the next phase of the war goes badly, he can point to congressional approval. If Congress refuses to authorize, he can blame Capitol Hill for any constraints he chooses to accept. Either outcome serves him politically.

🇺🇸🇱🇧 The U.S. Embassy in Beirut calls for direct engagement between Lebanon and Israel, pushing for a Trump-facilitated meeting between Aoun and Netanyahu: "Two neighboring countries that should have never been at war. This is Lebanon's moment to decide its own destiny." The U.S. is dangling sovereignty guarantees, territorial integrity, and reconstruction support as the prize if Lebanon comes to the table. The message to Beirut is clear: sit down with Netanyahu and we'll back you. Hesitate and you're on your own. The timing is calculated. The country is splitting, and the U.S. just stepped into the crack with an offer designed to pull Lebanon toward Washington and away from Iran's orbit.
