One year ago, eight medics from the Palestine Red Crescent Society @PalestineRCS were killed on duty in Gaza. They were responding to wounded people, they were humanitarians dedicated to saving lives. Their ambulances were clearly marked; their red uniforms should have protected them. One life lost is far too many. We must #ProtectHumanity.

#WorldMeteorologicalDay is an important reminder: In many cases, we can prevent extreme weather from becoming disasters by forecasting what’s coming and protecting communities ahead of time. With @UN & partners we are part of the Early Warnings for All initiative aiming to ensure that everyone on earth is protected by early warnings by 2027. No lives should be lost in a predictable disaster. Let's invest in early warning & early action. #EarlyWarningsForAll

Amid growing regional instability, supply chains are under pressure. Routes are disrupted, costs are rising, and deliveries are taking longer. But operations have not stopped. From our global logistics hub in Dubai, the @IFRC continues to move critical relief items where they are needed most. We are adapting routes, coordinating across borders, and working around the clock to keep aid flowing. With the support of @DXBHumanitarian, we are maintaining stock, securing infrastructure, and ensuring continuity in an increasingly complex environment. The challenges are real. But so is our commitment: support must not stop.

In Bryansk, Russian Red Cross staff are meeting displaced families, visiting the injured, and providing vouchers for food, medicine and children's clothes. Hostilities affect people on all sides. The Red Cross is there, no matter what.

Women and water are at the heart of every thriving community. When they are respected and protected families grow stronger and futures become brighter. Water nourishes, restores, and sustains. In much the same way, the women of the Mothers Club in Lonfoloko village in Togo nurture the next generations, protecting their households, and quietly guarding against dangers seen. Through its Mothers' Club volunteers, the Togolese Red Cross carries out community outreach in local areas to promote good hygiene and sanitation practices. Learn more: bit.ly/4bfIVx4 #WorldWaterDay

According to @WHO, 2.2 billion people live without safe drinking water. Today, water and sanitation services are under extreme threat from a growing population, and the worsening impacts of the climate crisis. Everyone should have access to safe water and sanitation. #WorldWaterDay

In the town of Renk, South Sudan, life has changed rapidly. Once a small and relatively quiet town along the banks of the Nile River, Renk has become a place of refuge for tens of thousands of people fleeing the Sudan conflict. With so many people arriving, one of the biggest challenges is access to safe water. Read more in special World Water Day 2026 Report 👉bit.ly/41eQcXQ

The global water crisis affects everyone, but not equally. Where people lack the human rights to safe drinking water and sanitation, inequalities flourish, with women and girls bearing the brunt. This World Water Day, it’s time to centre women and girls in water solutions. Because where water flows, equality grows. The IFRC joins the call to invest in women’s leadership to make water a force for a healthier, more prosperous, gender-equal future that will benefit us all. We must act now to secure health for everyone.

Where water flows, equality grows. When women and girls have equal voice in water and sanitation decisions, services become more inclusive, sustainable and effective. We must invest in women’s leadership to make water a force for a healthier, more prosperous, gender-equal future that will benefit us all. On today's #WorldWaterDay, we @IFRC are calling for safe access to water and sanitation for all.

💧 #WorldWaterDay There is a thin line between dignity and disease at the world's largest displacement camp, Cox's Bazar, Bangladesh The Bangladesh Red Crescent Society (@BDRCS1) has been here since the very first days of this crisis and have delivered billions of litres of safe drinking water to the Rakhine people. Nearly 3,300 Red Crescent volunteers serve as the backbone of this response, going door-to-door across the camps, teaching handwashing with soap, demonstrating safe water storage, and promoting hygiene practices that quite literally save lives. As one camp resident, Halama Khaton, shared with the IFRC: when they first arrived, the water was discoloured, tasted of iron, and people fell ill. Today, there is clean supply of water at water points installed by the Bangladesh Red Crescent, IFRC, and partners. Thank you Bangladesh Red Crescent Society (BDRCS) !

Just over the border in Chad, the conflict in Sudan is felt far beyond the front lines. In camps across eastern Chad, hundreds of thousands of refugees are trying to rebuild their lives in an environment marked by extreme heat, water scarcity, and rising food prices. The Chad Red Cross and the @IFRC have mobilised to support the people in these communities. Together, they conduct regular needs assessments, have established a "humanitarian service point" at a camp for refugees and are providing critical support such as new wells and 'water points' where people can access clean, safe water. In a field dominated by men, Olcay Hakan didn't get scared - she learned and got to work. After the 2023 earthquakes in Türkiye, she rebuilt her business with support from @RedCrescent, @BritishRedCross & @IFRC. Her dream is to run the region's best car repair shop. And she's proving that no dream is too big, no barrier too high - for any woman willing to fight for it. Olcay, we believe in you. 💪

The fight against racism is everyone’s fight. We all have a part to play in building a world beyond racism. Today, we reaffirm our firm and unequivocal condemnation of racism in all its forms. At the @IFRC, our principle of neutrality does not mean staying silent in the face of racist violence, discrimination and exclusion. Together with our principles of humanity and impartiality, it means working to actively dismantle systemic barriers so everyone receives the safe, dignified, and equitable support that they need. It means being committed to the individual, structural, and cultural change needed to eradicate discrimination and build safe, inclusive spaces for everyone. It means proudly taking on our collective responsibility to stand up, and speak up, for the right of all people to live a life free form all forms of racial discrimination. It is our duty to translate words into a meaningful reality. #FightRacism

ELIMINATE RACISM: On the International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination, we are reminded that racism is not a relic of the past — it is a daily reality for millions. It shapes who is safe, who is heard, who gets access to opportunity, and who is left behind. Racism and discrimination have no place in our societies — nor in our organisations. Every person deserves dignity, safety, and equal opportunity. As a global humanitarian network, we see the human cost of discrimination in every crisis: people denied assistance because of who they are; communities stigmatized in moments when they most need solidarity; migrants and minorities facing barriers to safety and dignity. Racism weakens our social fabric, fuels violence, and undermines trust. Today, and every day, we recommit to building a world where every person is treated with respect and fairness — regardless of race, ethnicity, origin, or status. A world where dignity is not negotiable. A world where compassion is not conditional. Let us confront discrimination wherever it appears — in our institutions, our systems, and within ourselves. Let us choose courage over comfort, justice over indifference, and humanity over hate. Our IFRC network stands united: racism has no place in our societies, and no place in our humanitarian work. #FightRacism

The escalation of hostilities in the Middle East is affecting civilians on all sides. In Israel, Magen David Adom @Mdais teams are on the ground providing life-saving assistance. Magen David Adom has raised its alert level to maximum, mobilizing 39,000 staff and volunteers in total, deploying over 2,000 ambulances and rapid response vehicles. MDA teams are also conducting secondary transfers of bedridden and ventilated patients from non-sheltered facilities to protected locations, while leading a national blood donation campaign in secure sites.

In Lebanon, the ongoing escalation, combined with evacuation orders and continuous strikes, is contributing to a rapidly evolving humanitarian situation, with increasing needs for emergency shelter, health services, and relief assistance. There is also a massive displacement crisis in the country, with a million people now registered as displaced, according to official figures. Staff and volunteers from the Lebanese Red Cross are working under extreme pressure while ensuring both their personal safety and the safe evacuation of injured individuals. To help sustain and scale up the humanitarian response of the @RedCrossLebanon in the months ahead, the @IFRC is providing critical financial support through allocations of funds from @IFRC_DREF and the extension of its emergency appeal. Here is a glimpse of the Lebanese Red Cross life-saving work. 👇
