Was a clear sky this am, now this. Didn’t Florida ban spraying chemicals in our sky’s? We need to ban it nationwide. There is no way that water vapor would stay that long in the sky.

Randomly saw @SpaceX Falcon 9 in the sky near Littleton, Colorado while driving in the car a little while ago. We couldn't get a photo before it snuck behind the mountains. #Falcon9

We are saddened by the passing of Jim Lovell, commander of Apollo 13 and a four-time spaceflight veteran. Lovell's life and work inspired millions. His courage under pressure helped forge our path to the Moon and beyond—a journey that continues today. go.nasa.gov/41tbrpq

@gbrew24 If I had to guess, the F-35 was flying with additional external ordnance or flying with other F-16 aircraft, or both, which would negate its stealthiness.

Lots of interesting takeaways from this piece, but the winner has to be "multiple US officials" confirming the Houthis nearly shot down an F-35, the most advanced aircraft ever built.

Trump launched what was meant to be an 8-10 month campaign against the Houthis. He gave it one month. Once it became clear the campaign was accomplishing nothing, while putting US servicemen in real danger, he pulled the plug and declared victory.

@colossal These aren't actual Dire Wolves though. They are Grey Wolves that have been modified to have a few characteristics that are Dire Wolf-like. They are genetically very different from Dire Wolves.

SOUND ON. You’re hearing the first howl of a dire wolf in over 10,000 years. Meet Romulus and Remus—the world’s first de-extinct animals, born on October 1, 2024. The dire wolf has been extinct for over 10,000 years. These two wolves were brought back from extinction using genetic edits derived from a complete dire wolf genome, meticulously reconstructed by Colossal from ancient DNA found in fossils dating back 11,500 and 72,000 years. This moment marks not only a milestone for us as a company but also a leap forward for science, conservation, and humanity. From the beginning, our goal has been clear: “To revolutionize history and be the first company to use CRISPR technology successfully in the de-extinction of previously lost species.” By achieving this, we continue to push forward our broader mission on—accepting humanity’s duty to restore Earth to a healthier state. But this isn’t just our moment—it’s one for science, our planet, and humankind. All of which we love and are passionate about. Now, close your eyes and listen to that howl once more. Think about what this means for all of us.

“NASA has this phrase that they like: ‘Failure is not an option.’ But failure has to be an option in art and in exploration, because it’s a leap of faith. And no important endeavor that required innovation was done without risk. You have to be willing to take those risks. So, that’s the thought I would leave you with, is that in whatever you’re doing, failure is an option, but fear is not.” -James Cameron Keep chasing the stars @SpaceX @elonmusk

Some notes from the post-docking news conference on Starliner: Engineers found a fourth helium leak after capture. The thruster issues were similar to those observed on OFT-2, and are still not fully understood.

If you're keeping score at home, these are the problems Boeing has found with the Starliner spacecraft on the ground since OFT-2: * prop system valves * flammable tape * parachutes * helium leak * prop system design vulnerability Crew flight test now set for June 1.

On @Maxar imagery, two MiG-31s and one Su-27 have been completely destroyed, and a MiG-29 damaged, at the Russian Air Force's Belbek Airbase in occupied Crimea. A fuel storage near the main airbase runway was also destroyed, and debris continued to burn in the aftermath.

Aftermath of the 2 Ukrainian strikes on Belbek airfield over 2 consecutive nights, as seen in a HR satellite image by @planet from May 16. At least several MiG-31s appear to be destroyed + a fuel depot (according to Wikimapia). Another scorch mark is visible at 44.6857, 33.5590.
