@RamyarAlizadeh1 @MusicMan4201 @GHHILL1911 @IanJaeger29 Those operations, to protect against a genocide, contain a war, and enforce no fly zones were planned and implemented as NATO - ie, in co-operation with NATO Israel and US war on Iran was not planned with NATO, both went together Israel isnt in NATO There is no comparison

As we watch hollywood barrel towards a paramount Warner bros merger, this movie should remind us of what may be lost. The relationship between movies and journalism is without question one of the most important parts of a democracy. Having choice in a multi studio system with a news media that is completely independent of those studios cannot be undervalued, nor its importance overstated. This movie would not have been made in a Paramount/Warnerbros/CNN /Trump era. Just never would have happened. That’s what’s at stake. Trump and Hegseth have told us so. “Separation between News and Power”. Should be our new “separation between church and state”. theguardian.com/us-news/2026/a…

We're aligning with Moscow because Moscow is right and Europe is wrong. We promised the Soviets we would not move NATO "one inch eastward" if they allowed East and West Germany to re-unify. They allowed it, then we broke our word; moved NATO right up to Russia's Border. When NATO then tried to recruit Ukraine, Russia told everyone "no." Ukraine said "We're sovereign, we will do as we like." Russia replied "If Ukraine joins NATO it will put American missiles on Ukraine soil with a five minute flight time to Moscow. No nation can defend itself from such a thing, you cannot join NATO." Ukraine replied "We are sovereign, we will do as we want." Russia said "Oh yea? Here. Meet the Russian Army." Now, Euro-trash like you whine about it. NATO expansion caused all this. Accept reality.

No serious nation in the history of warfare has spent fourteen months insulting its allies, siding with their common enemy, and then knocked on their door expecting them to rescue a catastrophe of its own making. You abused the UK. Threatened Canada. Tried to grab Greenland. Called the EU an adversary. Praised Putin. Hosted Kremlin officials in the Capitol. Abandoned Ukraine. And did all of it loudly, proudly, and on camera. And now you are surprised that nobody is returning your calls. You want European boots on the ground? Start by explaining why America is more aligned with Moscow than with Brussels. Take your time. We will wait. Gandalv / @Microinteracti1

The Europeans are not dealing with “a man.” They are dealing with the United States of America. The United States needed the most innocuous kind of cooperation from them. They denied the United States that cooperation. The implied argument is that their obligations within our alliance depend on whether they like the guy we chose as our president. “Sure, we’re allies…if we approve of who you elected.” Nope. We are not going to forget, and we’re not going to forgive. I’m indifferent to their excuses or their rationalizations. The United States of America needed their help and not very much help. They turned us down. That changes everything. And they aren’t going to like how it changes everything.

Given Trump’s Easter threats to carry out new war crimes in Iran, we should think one or two steps ahead about a coup attempt connected to the war. And then deter it. (1/17)

The casuistry here is remarkable. This is the simple reality: Like most Americans, most Europeans think this war is a bad idea.Their governments are being asked to take a huge risk by a man who has proved unreliable, volatile and intemperate over and over. Who would do that?

@5HARP3Y @Jenny_1884 @HermeticHaven Yes, its awful for people not on the ladder and why its so wrong for people to compare ‘80s challenges to now Interest was higher but the sums were far lower, id rather have paid 20% of a tiny sum than 5% of a giant sum

When I married in 1981 we both worked & most of our salary went on paying the mortgage as the interest rate was 15% at the time. Everything we owned was 2nd hand & we never went out for meals as we couldn’t afford to. We rented our TV Went to the launderette every weekend as had no washing machine. Only had new clothes at Xmas & birthdays as presents. We went without until we could save enough to pay for something. It’s always been hard whether you are young or old. So those out there that think we had it easy we didn’t. Our governments are to blame, not the old.

@JonjoBamjo @Worker_Snake @afneil You are deliberately trying to make a Salad out of very simple, high level words Net Zero is a simple worded aspiration, reducing Gas consumption and replacing with renewables is simple concepts, reduce Gas and replace with Renewables - it is not complicated

@Worker_Snake @bug_wug @afneil Sounds like a word salad to explain, that net zero is nonsense and we should just use gas and oil until better renewables come online

@JonjoBamjo @Worker_Snake @afneil Net zero is an aspiration to reach ‘net zero’ Pragmatically acknowledging that some industries wont be off of fossils but, if the other 90% of consumers are then, its reducing global carbon emissions towards ‘net zero’ It really isnt difficult to understand

@stephen7502 @dave43law The change in Government helped as the Tories simply put people into former hotels and didnt process anyone This was great business for the owners of the former hotels with those big juicy contracts Processing means people have been returned so the deterrent takes effect

@dave43law Why? Why would a reduction in a problem he highlighted be a problem for him? He highlighted the boat crossings and it would still be ignored to this day but for his campaigning.
